ultimate energy drink

There is a good energy drink on the market & it works very good. It's made by a company called Advocare & the drink is called SPARK! It is chocked full of vitamins & minerals.

Nice little advertisement.. And you even listed the ingredients, but some how, left one out... kinda odd?

Hmmmm, Sucralose, a very controversial sugar substitute that has side affects and possible long term issues is never mentioned. I'm sure it was by accident, thus I figured I'd mention it because we only want to report to our pool friends and families all of the facts...not just the ones we like...

So basically, Sucralose is not sugar, it is a chlorinated artificial sweetner in the same line as "aspartame" and "saccharin", with detrimental health effects to match.

But then again, I'm guessing you already knew that. And please, save the junk science from the company website that tells us all how "safe" it is. You pay someone enough money, and they will tell you drinking bleach helps with digestion !!

Hate to make sad, johnnyt, but if there was a food or shirt or shoe or drug or chant out there that made everything 'better', we'd probably all be using it already.

Life generally is better with a well-rounded diet: fresh fruits And vegetables, omega3 seafood, low red meat...coupled with exercise.

That said, I ride lots of bike miles and try to eat healthily. I have to eat every few hours or i start to feel weak and shaky, so now who has stamina?!

Thank BB, actually smoking and other bad stuff is good for your game, I play with a guy when he take a smoke break he comes back sharp as a razor. But good stuff is drink lots of water it is the best for keeping the brain flooded, enhances memory, and focus as well as overall health. Do not over do water just drink two 8 oz bottles say about an hour or two before the match, also sugary food helps too, but have to be careful too much of it will blind you focus, watch out, for caffeine drinks keeps you awake have to know its effect and duration.

I find that I get excellent energy and focus by drinking bulletproof coffee.

That's coffee with a healthy dose of grassfed unsalted butter (kerrygold in the silver package) and refined coconut oil or MCT oil.

The saturated fat + caffeine really gets your brain working.

Not much of a health nut but I was wondering if anyone has attempted to change their diet to improve concentration and focus. Some of the better players (Buddy Hall, Kid Delicious) were/are not the pinnacle of health but have awesome staying power. So maybe it makes no difference?

But if it does what ingredients do u think would have to go into the ultimate energy drink or meal?. Sans caffeine and only good sugars. I want to avoid monster, red bull, coffee, 5 hour and the rest. It would be interesting to see if eating or drinking certain foods would affect performance based on a sport/game that requires as much concentration that pool does.

To start this off I would imagine it would have to start with B12. It is the cornerstone in converting digested foods into energy.
Onnit.com look up alpha brian or ask joe rogan its good stuff

Yeah, not that company specifically, but the "bee pollen" claims of health benefits have been greatly exaggerated. There has been no medical studies that prove any of the numerous claims by the makers of these products. And I understand there can be some severe side effects to them as well, which is something you wanna look out for.

Lots of magic pills out there, but a good old "V8" is probably the better than anything you find on a grocers shelf to drink. A little high in sodium, so if that is a concern, find yourself a juicer machine and make it yourself.

Tomatoes have natural antioxidants, and is probably more vitamins than a human needs in one day. Skip one meal a day, just one, and drink a V8 (or your own homemade juice) and eat an ounce of non salted or low salted nuts, or even a low fat yogurt and a piece of fruit. And it will probably give you more energy than you need, it is all natural, and it's a lot cheaper than the new stuff they "market".... try it for a week.

Interesting. Does the butter, or the coconut oil, leave a filmy aftertaste?

Now V8 does have some benefits but I have heard that the stuff they put in it to preserve it, the heat used to kill germs and the time that it sits on the shelf minimizes its health benefits.

I really don't trust anything that has ginsing, guava, bee pollen etc. That stuff goes bad pretty quickly and the preservatives they put in to keep it fresh is not good for you.

Caffeine is a game killer for me. I already have issues with adrenalin and calming down and about the only thing caffeine does is make me overly concerned about winning.

I have noticed that if I eat a pasta meal before a match I tend to win more. At first I did it because of superstition until I found out about the excellent carbs and b vitamins it has for the brain.
