Ultimate Pool USA Boston Shootout

... The ref told me that he did not see Justin touch the ball with his ferrule so he did not call a foul. ...
Hmm. Under the International 8-Ball Rules, which are used in Ultimate Pool, it's the tip that matters, not the ferrule. "Positioning the cue ball with the cue is allowed as long as the tip of the cue is not used."

Under WPA world-standardized rules even the tip can be used in positioning the cue ball, "but not with a forward stroke motion."

True. Maybe he meant that if it never touched the ferrule, then there's no way it could have touched the tip. Either way, several players used their cues to adjust the position of the cue ball during the event. I believe the foul was called against Del Sim, unless I'm mistaken. Is anyone (including Del) denying that he did? Or is the controversy that others did the same and it wasn't called? I can tell you that these refs are absolutely the most attentive and consistent ref team I've ever been around.

I've watched some streams from this and the last event.
It's no more than some light pass time entertainment, an exhibition if you'd like.
To me it feels that these events only exist as promotions to draw people to play in their leagues.
I will not be surprised to find out that the top pros that show up are getting paid to do so.
They do put out a nice production and maybe with the right exposure they might draw more people into pool.
The game itself is not more intersting than a game being played in a movie.
Hi, I'm the CEO of Ultimate Pool USA, I can assure you, we don't pay anyone to play. What we do offer all players is an environment built for players by players. SVB for example watched our events and asked if he could come play.

The events are designed to support our league product, however all being pool fans we also want to provide the best events for viewers at home. Great to read so much nice feedback! Thanks everyone for the support

I've noticed that the details for Cherokee are coming soon, very soon, 2 weeks. All we've seen is 100k for first and I thought I saw 50k for second.
Rooms were locked, no schedule of events, and you won't know what division you play in until the end of season 3 because you play whatever your end rating is, and they fluctuate so much from week to week.

Are there any details on days for each event, what events you can sign up for, further down pay spots for 3rd place and down, etc. plz.

Hi so payouts are as followed
100k first prize
50k second prize
20k 3/4
10k 5/8
5k 9/12

The team will be releasing the full schedule to your local league operator shortly. There is a discount on rooms, we're making this a festival of pool with lots of events scheduled and an emphasis as ever on player experience.

As with any new rating system, you'll know the swings lessen with more games played. Glad you're playing our league and hope you're having fun doing it.
