Understanding Cue Shaft Flexibility

The center of my target might not be center of pocket. Well if the difficulty numbers say a miss one way is better than the other. Still aim to make .....but just in case cheating a pocket is sometimes the choice. Cheaters can prosper.
The cueball control is where the balance of leaving me good on the next shot and just in case opponent ugly is a skill. Control Whitey.

Isn’t your claim that “choosing a side” rather than trying for center ball increases your odds of making the shot? Simple geometry says it doesn’t.
No, I claim that erring to outside english increases my odds of placing a known directional english on the CB. By extension that also increases the odds of inducing throw on the OB which helps correct for my tendency to hit blind cuts thick. Doesn't make the pocket bigger. Just helps correct an issue I have(had?) with blind cuts.

Fortunately I didn't start holding my breath, so we can dive into this a bit. If by your argument when attempting to strike the center line of the CB, we have the potential to hit either the center or left/right. Can we not then conclude if the 'target of centerline' is shifted (erred if you will) to one side the CB. Then the possible outcomes then become, outside, more outside, or centerline...?

Sure, but that affects the direction of spin and the direction of the CB (and therefore the OB) - the direction of the OB is affected much more by the CB's direction than by its spin (throw). The CB's direction is what is affected equally by stroke errors at centerball vs. side.

Let me also point out that, to me, this discussion isn't just about our different views - there are almost 600 people logged on to AzB right now who can be helped or held back by what they read here, especially these "how to" questions.

Not arguing that. However yet again you're introducing an element into the equation that isn't apart of the actual discussion. Aim with squirt is still just aim. That said, you're getting ahead of yourself. We've just come to common ground on erring with English provides 2 outcomes rather than the grab bag of three of cueing for center line.

Definitely... you should consider that when applying blanket statements and moot elements. Place focus on what's being discussed rather convoluting the discussion with tangents to support a narrative that's besides the point.

We don't seem to be having the same discussion about the same equation - so I probably disagree (but I can't be sure).

I think we've given this horse carcass at least the beating it deserved.

Dawn Of TOI

To me anyway, I got the impression he used it to deflect the white round thing into a thinner hit. Dragging a ball into the rubber is common on rail shots - probably because of the rubber involved so TOI might alleviate that without any further aim, adjustment, stress, or discussion.

:p

It is a shame you wasted so much time not focusing on the actual topic. We could have potentially built this conversation into an epiphany for you. My argument has remained on point throughout. You're swinging at a horse named CJ that's half buried in your own backyard and I don't even know where you live...lol.

Rest assured that I do not support CJ's take on bending reality, and I also don't believe I have the ability to warp physics to my will.

Oh but it's So Much Fun trying. 🤷‍♂️

And I thought it was. Shrug 🤷‍♂️
