Unique conversion cue!

Hi All,

Just wanted to share a very unique conversion with you. This stick has a Hoppe style butt plate with a solid ivory joint and ivory rings. The conversion was done with an old wedge style butt by Jerry Rauenzahn. The leather wrap is flawless. Jerry used purpleheart points which really compliment the old butt wood. This cue hits very solid. The flat faced ivory joint fits extremely well. I think Jerry knocked himself out on this one!

Two questions . . . .

What is a "wedge style butt"?

Don't you know that standing on your table, even in socks, is asking for trouble with the slate seams?!?!!? :eek: :p :D

Fortunately, that wasn't me standing on the table. It was an aboriginal friend who didn't know any better ;) !

So what is a "wedge style butt"???? I should know, since I have had a wedgie in my butt before. But, I don't. :p

Wedge style butt = Old marquetry style, usually with ivory or mother of pearl triangular wedge on one side and sometimes with a triangular piece of ebony on the other, usually veneered - also popular style with early Brunswicks (i.e. model 26 1/2). Why do I have a feeling you know this already? Cool thing is Jerry has made this butt rounded instead of the old style flat triangles...
