Has anyone had any experience with the Unique Travel Tipper? Is it a good piece of equipment? Is it worth getting for small jobs? I cant even find a video of one in action....so I figured I would see if there is any info out there on this. Thanks.

It is a good machine for just the tip end of the cue, but go with the full size cue companion with heavy duty reversible motor and your repair options skyrocket.

Best $$$ I have spent in 40 years of working on cues.

Every product ive ever used by Unique seems to be great quality. I agree though, go with the cue companion. It folds in half if needed to travel and would be a much better option

Your post suggests that you know nothing about lathes. Well, do you ?
You're going about this bass-ackwards. Learn lathes THEN buy one.
Quick question; Do you see any increments on the feed dials ?
Calipers will tell you where you're at but there is nothing on that lathe
(and I use that term loosely) that will tell you where you're going.
Any feed advancement will be a guessing game and, oops, I went too far.
I can buy two metal lathes that I can build cues on for the price of that toy.

Hi,

The Cue Companion was my first cue lathe and I made over $ 150,000.00 in cue repair at my pool hall with it during a 10 year period.

I also built my first sneak Pete on it.

Total maintenance was 3 drive belts in 13 years for less tha 25.00.

Sold it for 2/3 of new price after 13 years.

Can't go wrong with one. Unique Rocks!

JMO,

Rick

I love my unique cue companion...I do all kinds of work on it. Even stuff that's not pool related. Here are pics of an antique elevator control handle I made to restore the cracked one...also some chess pieces I've turned on it.

Miracles do happen.
I told you I could buy two lathes that I could build cues on for
what you want to spend on a tip-lathe and I meant it.
From what I see it's missing the electrical plug.
I could make that machine sing in a week. Building cues in two.
If you want to spend $1,000 for a tip installing lathe, have at it.
At least you'll be good for the economy; Unique's economy that is.

This is just a teaser because I don't expect the ad to last out the week.
Snooze, you lose. This Clausing 59xx series is listed for $100.

Better get yourself some knowledge first before you hurt yourself;
physically AND financially.

Update : Got up this morning to find that the seller has upped his asking price to $400.
Sorry if that puts anyone off. Maybe he realized that he's got a $500 adjustable chuck on it.

Yes I have one but I also have 3 Cue Companions as well as most of their machines. All Uniques are quality and the service is top notch. I agree with the other posts - you might as well upgrade to the Cue Companion as it folds to half the size and have more options and the ability to do more with it later down the road. Good luck!
