I bought 2 jump cues last week on ebay. The seller shipped right away and today I came home to this(see pics). The triangle box was cut in half(not broken because the tears are even all the way around)and the jump cues gone. The note from the post office here says "item was recieved at my local post office in damaged condition with contents missing)I got half a box with some paper in it.I contacted the seller and I`m waiting to hear from them and I contacted the post office and told them this was definetly theft due to the even cuts and they opened a inquiry and said they will get back to me.If anyone works for the post office please let me know what if anything the inquiry does.

Save that box. Call the Postal Inspection Service in your area and file a mail theft report. Did the sender get extra insurance? It is automatically insured I believe for $100 dollars but you can buy more.

If I was going to guess I'd say that happened at the airlines.

Good luck.

That's just messed up. I'd be so pissed. Makes me think twice about using ebay anymore. Sorry for your loss and I hope you get compensated.

I do not think this had anything to do with Ebay. It does suck though. I have shipped out hundreds of packages through the USPS, and I have only had problems about 3-4 times. Good thing it was not high end items in my case, but it does still suck when it happens. Good luck with everything!

True it's not Ebay's fault. I was thinking more of private sales going through the USPS.

I have 100+ auctions and 100% perfect feedback and the seller has 300+ auctions and 100% feedback. It was 100% on the post office.
It probally was just some A$$hole that works for the postal service that saw the box said from ___ Billiard supply and probally thought they were going to get a nice cue.I don`t really care about the money it`s just pisses me off that is very obvious that the box wasn`t just damaged and that at some point someone should have stopped and ask was it like this when it left the last location?
If anyone sees someone trying sell 2 jump cues and they work for the post office between fla and pa. They might be mine.LOL.

Well now, that makes our government downright untrustworthy.

Perish the effing thought!! ( Do you know that I just misspelled ," effing ,"
and spell check corrected me ? Is it an official word now?)

It might be a good idea not to identify the source as XYZ pool Cues or XYZ Golf Club Sales or the like. Maybe it would help a little.

Insurance is expensive but you gotta do it.

Bro that sucks... sorry for your lost. Had this happen when with some parts for my Mustang I had sent to Hawaii. I believe it took a little over 60 days for me to get the money I insured it for.

EBay created paypal for payment, I think EBay should also go into delivery service. Anything bought on their site will be collected and delivered by EBay. That would be a big money business again for EBay.

I have had the same thing with the USPS, but I have also had the problem with UPS and FedEx too. I would suggest anyone selling items should not put anything on the label to attract attention to what the item is. It's a pretty sad indictment on society as a whole and we all pay more for goods and services because of this sort of thing.

The issue with one of the carriers was particularily painful, I had ordered some jewelry for Christmas presents and someone opened the package and removed one of the two items. The dumbass took the less expensive piece, even though they knew who it was they couldn't do anything until he was caught in the act. Eventually they did catch him with a pocketful of jewelry and his locker filled with more. The jerk broke down in tears, apparently sobbing like a baby when caught! We also know a lady who had an $8,000.00 Diamond ring that went missing from the same Hub!

We are still waiting to hear about his court case, because we want to go along and see the dick get convicted or sentenced.

Does anyone know if the have Capital Punishment in GA for theft! No that would be wrong I guess, maybe he could do Life and just have his hands removed.

It was probebly lost at a bulk mail center. In this case your cues will go to the damaged mail Dept. They take their sweet good all time there. Figure 2-3 months if they have lots of damaged mail. Theft goes on as well although USPS like to ignore or outright deny it. Worked at a Bulk Mail center for awhile. The employees do not give a rats a$$ if something is broken or ripped off out of the package. When the foreman says get the 18 wheeler loaded it leaves in 1 hour everyone starts to throw the boxes in. The sound of breaking glass & crunch sounds is something you do not forget. I am glad I left for a better job!

If you got anything at all of high value or that can break or that you don't want scratches I would highly reccomend against using UPS.

I use to work there and unload those tractor trailers. We're suppose to get them unloaded at 1,000 boxes an hour.. we're not there to take care of your sh*t, we're there to make sure we don't get yelled at. So you can imagine what goes on in there.. we got a belt that extends into the truck that you THROW everything on. When you get through with one section of the truck and come up against another 10 high wall of boxes.. how do we get it down? You guessed it, we pull out a box from the bottom until the whole thing comes down like an avalanche.

NEVER give an indication of what's in the package! The people who work for the carriers will kill you.

Our company had to make major changes in our distribution due to the fact that employees at both FedEx and UPS figured out our packaging schemes and codes, and would pick the iPods out of any package that came through. That gets expensive in a hurry!

Kind of difficult to disguise a box containing a cue. Don't make it any easier for them by mentioning the word "cue" on the outside of the box!

you been robbed. that sucks. sorry for the hassle. i have sold a few things here and elswhere and when i ship i always add insurance and for the things i buy i always request insurance. i am willing to spend and charge a few more bucks to make the shipping company have to pay. i will say this though, i ship alot with ups for my company. they will pay a claim, but you better not be in a hurry.:boring2:

If I had something of high value I would use registered mail at the Post Office.

In this case I suspect the airlines crushed the box and the contents fell out. The USPS uses commercial airlines.

I agree. I generally use USPS also unless a customer requests otherwise and wants to pay the shipping. I was once standing in line at the Post Office, when to my surprise a FedEx truck pulled up and the driver went to the head of the line to bring some packages to the counter. when it was my turn I happened to get the same clerk. I asked him about the FedEx incident and was told that FedEx sent a lot of the packages through USPS when the FedEx didn't have one of their own flights going to the destination in a timely manner. Kinda makes you say, Hmmmmmmm.........

Ok, here's some help from one of those A$$ ^^^** from the USPS.

Send a certified letter to this address, describe the cues in as much detail as you can.
Atlanta Mail Recovery Center

5345 Fulton Industrial Blvd SW

Atlanta, GA 30378-2400

I hope the seller purchased insurance for the cues and good luck.

Maybe the other half of the box will arrive tomorrow with the cues sticking out of it.

I'm an optimist. :)

Actually, we've had a contract with Fedex for quite a few years now. We get a better deal putting our priority and express mail on their planes than the commercial airliners were giving us. Some still goes on commercial flights, depending on the destination, but we try to put most on Fedex planes.

People think the USPS, UPS and Fedex have a tooth n nail rivalry, little do they know, we work together.
