University Billiards Club In Need Of Help

@thebook: Our club president took money out of his own pocket to cover initial payments on the debt. Don't be so hasty to give your opinion if you don't know all the angles. He's a good guy, but has made a few mistakes. I'm trying to help my club raise money by offering a service to the community, I'm not asking for a bailout. In addition, i'm not an officer of the club. However, I have been an active participant over the years and would like to see a club that I have enjoyed continue to exist after I graduate.

To address some other points. Several of our members have competed in ACUI tournaments. By consistently placing at the top for the games room tournaments, these players can choose to represent the school in the larger tournaments. These player are offered free table time to practice for the tournament.

Also, I would like to thank those of you who offered constructive advice and helpful tips.
Chopdoc, keith@greatbilliards, strightpoolIU, DoubleD and others; your advice is appreciated.

I don't know if schools should have recreational facilities or not. It seems like that is not the purpose of a school. Somehow I doubt that Plato's Academy had a pool room!

Platos Academy was located in a "garden area" near his residence. It was frequently used as a site for sporting events including "funeral games" which included various athletic contests to honor a recently deceased person.

And it had a "gymnasium"...which was likely of the open air variety.

Pool, of course, wasn't invented back then but certainly numerous forms of recreation/athletics were commonly conducted there.

And countless scholars have advocated "strong body, strong mind."

Thomas Jefferson used that exact phrase and went on to say..."As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives only moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind.

Sounds like pool to me!!!!! At least both involve shooting!!!!

Great to see a positive, informative post! Student Unions have a charter
which states they are not intended for education. Years ago I taught a billiards class out of the union-no instruction allowed in the game room.
Class work was done out of a room in the gymnasium.
Good luck, maybe you can enter into a new "improved" contract.
