Cue an case

The case looks like an old 80's schon and cue I like it a lot. The butt looks a little like a Herman Rambo, probably miss spelled his name not really sure of value really hard to guess. I might be interested in that case, pm me if you decide to get rid of it. Thanks Sean.

The cue looks like it could be a Palmer model C 2nd catalogue...but with diffrent rings and what could be a szam forearm.......it's would be about the time they used them.

Looking at it again I'm convinced that's what it is. The rings and joint are Palmer all day.

looks to be a palmer case also.....thin liner could be the give away....

I should have clarified more about the cue. Yes, it is a model C PALMER with Szamboti forearm. I LOVE the patina. The case and cue were together when I picked them up.

What are these little jewels worth in today's market, any ideas???

Well being its a szam forearm i don't see 2100 for cue and case being unfair just my opinion

Could be a cue by John Okie

The prong looks like one of Dad's. But not the color of the ones that he sold
to Palmer. This is a chartreuse green. This is the color that Dad used for his prong,
not the green that we made for Palmer blanks.

The butt cap resembles how Rambow did his cues with an ivory butt cap. But, of all the ones that I have seen by Rambow, his radius wasn't as deep as this cue.

I have seen a few other cues like this back end, that were from the Philly area.
Denny Glenn even bought one from Jimmy Fusco. It was the first one that I saw and
we were trying to determine if it was a Rambow cue.

A short time later, I did some repair work for a man rom the Philly area and after working on his Gus, he came and picked it up. He bought another cue with him,
one that he had made for him and has owned since it was made by John Okie.

I met John Okie when he installed my Dad's first table. I thought he was only a table mechanic, but it turns out he made some cues with Titalist blanks and also a solid
maple nose. If this is an Okie cue, it would be the first one that I have seen with a
prong made by my Dad.

Just trying to shed some light on an unknown and as I've found out a decent cuemaker
from more than 40 years ago.

Good luck with your search and I hope this helps.

Thank you for your help.

I pulled out my 3 remaining older Palmer model J's and I know 2 of these were Gus Szamboti blanks, at least so I've been told. Now we have some comparisons to make in point length and colors. If anyone has any light to shed I would love to read your input.

Thank you,

John

Palmercollector.com

The discussion is somewhere on the site, probably within the Second Catalog pages.

Eveyone with an interest in Palmers should familiarize themselves with this site.

Enjoy,
Jay

Sell me it Mr John!

I see Szam all over that Cue. I thought it might be an early Showman. Don't think he used that pin though.
Nick :)

It definitely looks like a Palmer C to me by the buttcap and joint rings/materials - they are rare in ebony. If Barry isn't sure, it's possible the forearm was built in the Palmer shop. The best ones Palmer built in the 1970's do look like Szamboti's - it's hard to tell the difference. The early Palmer C's had no decal or logo.

Thanks Chris.

I agree with you about the cue being a Palmer model C 2nd catalog cue. From all indications it is in original condition. The wrap looks like original Cortland, and the finish has that sweet old patina coloring from being 40 plus years old.

I'm still unclear who made the case it came with. Anyone want to add info???

Thank you for all comments,

John
