The ring on the shaft has a bit of a void under it, maybe not the best workmanship, and perhaps threatening to come loose. But I do wonder who made it...Ed Hig? Again, no idea. Cool little find though. I hope you nail down the maker. .

If you look closely, you can see that the signature is underneath some form of finish. Which doesn't necessarily negate your observation. :wink:
