Unusual tennon

I had a guy bring me a shaft last night because it was pretty warped and would like it replaced. It is one of the most unusual tennons I have seen.
It is surely a very old cue. Does anyone know anything about this cue?
Perhaps someone has an old shaft that would fit...
Please PM me if you do.

Any info would be appreciated...

Perhaps it is a "Sampaio conversion." The inlays and knurled mahogany handle and buttsleeve are identical to the Kent model.

Seems someone may have cut and added the rings in the butt sleeve area.
Those cues had a brass joint, but with the length added from the rings, the brass collar could've been cut off.
Looks like the forearm's been tapered as well.

Of course, the Kent could've been a "tribute" to this cue!

Best of luck.

Use the threaded part of that shaft and a few inches of the shaft above that to attach a new shaft blank to. Scrap the rest of the shaft.

I agree Chris, this is certainly the best solution to this problem.

I think the cue was made by D. Hiolle Custom cues located in France, I don't know if they are still in business, however, they were a Top of the line Cue making Facility for over 150 year's. Billiards cue were their specialty, however they did make pool cues and some were imported over the years primaraly from the turn of the century until the early 1970's.

Here is a site with similar cues by them listed; Check out cues 35 through 40.

Great ideas!

I do appreciate all the help on this forum. It is a great place to get information - and to help think of different ways to fix a problem.

And Craig - you always have such great information, especially on all the different kinds of old cues and such. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond as you did.

Appreciate this forum!
