Im in this hub and every person i click on it keeps saying "timed out" I set from active to passive and then back to active and still having this problem i turned my firwall off any ideas?

I got it to work thanks guys, i had to be i passive mode to be able to get the list for some reason.

I need some help on how to do this...can someone explain it to me like I'm a 6 year old kid....my computer knowledge is very elementary....someone posted something about a week ago where I could click on a site (in blue) and shortly thereafter I was watching some pool videos that he was sharing...however this dc++ stuff is like greek to me....if I could know how to do it, I would share some of my pool videos too.....hopefully someone out there will have the patience and inclination to show me the 1,2,3's or A, B, C's of how to do this.........THANKS

Sinse I am Greek I will try to explain it. :D
Download DC++ here is the link

after you have downloaded the program install it in your computer.
run DC++ go to ->file ->settings shoose a nick name and your connection speed.
There is a few buttons on the left side click on sharing set the upload slot at least 2 to get in the pool hub.
click the add folder button to select the folders you want to share.
Click the connection settings if you behind a firewall you can select the passive mode but you wont be able to download from other users that are also in passive mode.
if you choose active and you are behind a firewall you need to fill your IP address in the IP box.
we are done from settings. now go to View and click Favorite hubs
click on New you have 3 boxes there Name "pool"
Address interpool.dnsalias.com click ok and you are set.
double click to "pool" or press connect and you are there.

Hope this will help you out.

I just uploaded some of my Pyramid onto my hard drive. You should DL some from me and check it out, it's a fantastically difficult russian billiard game................awesome.....

Peekaboo, I see you ! :D I see that Dennis and Stolz have happily joined the dc++ team :)

And I'm happy to see that new users have already figured out the sharing part as well. It's not working if everyone are just downloading, you should share your newly acquired files as well ! If you don't, the sinister and evil hub op (me for instance) will kick you (in the nuts ! <- with a voice of Eric Cartman) and drive you away ! So remember to behave and not to hesitate to use the chat and ask for some files or just share your thoughts.

I made the mistake of putting my download folder, and my un-finished files in the same directory, if i change this while files are downloading will this mess anything up?

I got a few things from there Friday. Work interfered hoewever and I wasn't able to devote a lot of time to figuring it out.
I noticed some people ,you included, had many gigs of material available. Do you have a separate hard drive dedicated?

What formats transfer quicker. dvds are so big and take so long. How would you suggest I make my stuff available. So far I just burned one of my dvds to that folder (Ray Martin straight pool instructional). Thanks for the help Mikko.

DVD ripping

What dvd ripping program can i use to rip some matches i have. From DVD to mpg or avi ect... So that i can ad more to the sharing collection.

Each user provides only a few slots to download from. If the slots are all taken, you cannot download from the user, but you are queueing for your own slot. So you need to wait for the open slots. Most popular users with a lot of files have usually all the slots taken.

And, two passive users cannot download from each other. I have also had troubles using active mode, so I have to use passive mode.

thanks. i got everything working fine.. but like you i can only use the passive mode too. why is that ?

Usually it's because of firewall settings, your ISP doesn't support some of the functions needed for running the system in active mode. Also, if you have dynamic IP-address, you cannot connect with active mode, because you need to put your IP-address in the settings. Well, you could run it in active mode, but you'd need to change your IP-address there constantly.

For me, uploads worked ok with active mode, but I couldn't download anything. :confused: So I chose to run my dc in passive mode...

To Dennis: if you have dvds you want to share, you'd need to rip those dvds to your harddrive and then render them to file formats which take much less space, for instance .wmv, .avi (divx perhaps), .xvid are quite good and offer a good picture quality with low bandwidth.
 
Does anybody have the 2002 WPC Semi-Final match between Bustamante and Yang ??? I want to watch that sooooo baaad.
