UPA Championship - Davis vs Basavich

It's kind of hard to root against the home team, and Mike Davis is a formidable opponent in any professional venue, but I gotta go with Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich and bet a nickel! :p

He is on a roll this year:
'04 Reno Open, First Place
'04 $25,000 Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour Finale, First Place.
'04 Glass City Open, Second Place (2 years in a row)

I have to go with the underdog, at least judging by the previous bets, and put my money on Mike Davis. Great guy and a great player to boot.

Dave - 2 to 1 odds, I'll take it!

You got a point there, Dave! And 2-to-1 odds is the nuts with Mike Davis. He came in second at the World Summit in NYC against Santos, won the Reno Open last year, the points leader on the Planet Pool 9-Ball Tour 2 years in a row, plus the regional tour wins, like that one we both saw in Quincy.

Another thing, both of these guys NEVER stay up late at night before a match, get the proper rest, and do everything in their power to bring their best game to the table. It truly is a tough call.

Hey JAM,

You got that right. Mike, Danny and Keith all played jam up in Quincy and it's always a pleasure to watch. I had the opportunity to speak with Mike after day 1 for a little while and was really impressed by him. Great guy,and like you said, 2 to 1 odds is the nuts with Mike :-)

This just in, Dave. Danny defeated Mike Davis.

Mike faces the winner of Johnny Archer and Ralf Souquet on the B side of the charts.

Thanks JAM,

Oh well. I think I would probably take the same bet again if the odds were similar but it's always a struggle to bet against Danny. Especially the way he's been playing.
