Dana,
Thanks for the updates, I was planning on attending this event but had some other matters that needed my attention.
I rooting for Danny to win, although Karen's a tough competitor you can't count her out.

Jim,

I'm a Joss Tour supporter and it is my pleasure to provide these updates.., I'm glad to hear that someone out there enjoys reading them.

I too could not make it to this weekend's event but I'm really looking forward to next weekend's $5,000 added event at Snooker's in Providence, RI.., It should be a good one!

Who's winning?

Just wondering what the score is? Any updates? Thanks, in advance, can't wait to hear what's happening!

Thanks for the updates, Dana! For those of us unfortunate pool enthusiasts stuck at home, it is very nice to read about what's happening on the Joss tournament trail! :)

BTW, speaking about this coming weekend, January 28-29, this is one fine tournament venue, Snookers Pool Lounge.

The 17th Annual Ocean State Championship combined with the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour is a banner tournament. A permanent banner will feature the winner's name and hang from the rafters thereafter in Snookers. Another nice little nugget is this is a $5,000-added event, with trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Michael Webb of Webb Custom Cues will be on site for cue repair and sales.

I've gotta say that if you have never been to Snookers in Providence, RI, you're missing a real treat. Finding the joint, though, is difficult for out-of-towners like me. I have been there twice, and I still get lost! However, the address is 145 Clifford Street in Providence. Keep the phone number to the pool room with you in case you do get lost, which is (401) 351-POOL.

There is a player's rate in effect at the host hotel, the Fairfield Inn-Marriott, for $79 per night. It is located at 36 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI 02888, (401) 941-6600.

Here's a list of the winners of the previous Ocean State Championship: 2004, Mika Immonen; 2003, Francisco Bustamante; 2002, Mike Zuglan; 2001, Mike Zuglan; 2000, Mike Immonen; 1999, Jim Rempe; 1998, Mika Immonen; 1997, Mike Zuglan; 1996, Tony Robles; 1995, George Sansouci; 1994, George Sansouci; 1993, Tony Robles; 1992, Mike Zuglan; 1991, Mike Zuglan; and 1990, Rick Marcos.

The defending champion of the 2005 event is none other than Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich, depicted below.

BTW, this pool room is really COOL. It's worth the trip just to get a chance to taste Regina's home-made meatballs. YUMMIE! :p

I don't know much, but I stumbled onto Commet billiards while visiting the area for a wedding that I was in, and went there for the afternoon.

I still can not get over how friggin' nice that place was. By far the most beautiful location I have ever seen. It's really a shooters paradise.

This just in...

Hear ye, hear ye! Read all about it on AzBilliards Main Page.:p

Kid Delicious wins!

Danny Basavich must have made New Jersey proud this past weekend, pocketing a cool $1,500 for his first-place finish. Karen Corr also put on a fantastic show for the spectators, collecting $1,060 as the runner-up.
