Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Even "superboy" has to come down to earth sometime :) I will be your kryptonite!! You better believe I'm gonna be playin more, and one day very soon we will be doin it again! You are not the only one with confidence! It will be different next time, I'll promise you that.

This is NOT talkin shit, it's answering the call to get back in the game. Do you feel me comin...

Not to put any pressure on ya kid but u havent beaten me the last 3 times weve played. I do hear ya comin though, you are hungrey and out for revenge and Superman has no weaknesses.

No pressure here little buddy!! I love when people get cocky...

not cocky just confident theres a difference

^^^^ You got to be careful what you type here on AZ. People will repeat it wrong and next thing you know, you're giving Jon the 5 ball and you beat him out of his car or something.

I hope when you guys do play again i can be up there to watch. Love seeing some good 8 ball played. Getting real bored watching people shit balls in on one another then talking about how they ran out a tough rack. :(

i agree, everybody has gotten away from playing 8 ball i like the game, more people should play it

The game also changes quite a bit from skill level to skill level. That might be the most interesting part. A moment to learn, a lifetime to master. Watching skilled players makes it look easier than it is.

I agree with Jason, in that, watching people play the game the way it should be played is interesting to watch.

One of the few things that the IPT got right was using 8-ball as the game of choice. JMO

I love 8-ball. It's a great skill game. If you play straight pool, it will help your 8-ball game. That's why I think a straight pool league would be a good thing. Would love to see that happen if there was enough interest. Nobody at Big Puppy's could run it though, it would have to be one of us.

Jason, you are right about people bein dumb enough to brag about winning after they shit out. That gets old, and it seems to happen here alot. Why do you think I won't play Pet 9-ball :) If he wanted to give me the 5, I might take it. JK!

I agree about 8 ball being a good game. It's a tough game. On the east coast, it's just not a game of choice and no one plays it at all. I mean to the point there aren't even any 8 ball tourneys you could play in. In fact the only 8 ball you ever get to play is in APA league.

With that said, I won an 8 ball qualifier at Stix earlier today, so I'll be joining Spina at regionals. I won 3 matches to qualify, all by the score of 5-1. I broke and ran at least 1 rack and one match 3 racks to get there. I won in 4 innings, 5 innings, and 7 innings. I know how bad I play 8 ball soooo...........

I'd like to see a couple tables with slightly smaller pockets on the small track somewhere for the 8 ball games. I agree with whomever said the game is so different depending on the skill levels involved. In 18 racks, I had 1 safe played on me today and I only played 1 or 2 myself. I been watching some videos from the shooting star classic and the 8 ball they play looks nothing like the 8 ball I play, and I KNOW they play good. I used to hate 8 ball, then I figured out I only hated it cuz of how terribly I play it. BCA league is making me like the game a lot more.

Rant over bed time...

APA is only for people going to apa in vegas. Otherwise it is a bullshit league and isn't any fun. Too much politics and "working the system". I won't ever play it again unless my job changes which would allow me to go to vegas in the summer.

On a side note, I hope to be a very happy man in about 8 hrs!!! Going to visit Jeffry in Boone and then maybe to Big Dogs afterwards!!!

I agree, that's why all the years I played in it, there was only like one year I didn't go to Vegas....

If anyone is interested in playing APA in the spring or maybe thinking about changing teams (ehm...frost). I have 2 open spots on my team and we could use a strong 6 or 7 or any strong player. Our team is tied for 1st in our devision, but I'm not sure how we'll do in the tournament since most of us are new. I can't guarantee Vegas, but you never know.

went to sticks tourney last night spit it with mark ran into some kid from florida, who plays really strong, he wanted to play some 100 dollar sets, I said ok. Started out 8 ball he beat me 7-5 (oh his name is Josh Edgar). Switched to nine ball, I told him I atleast need a game going to 8. I won 8-3. Then he wanted to play on the big table I told him I need the 8 ball on the big table, i've seen this kid shoot he plays really strong, he beat Henderson for 300 about a month ago I think. Just becare guys not to get hustled by this guy he now lives in Ames. Back to the game, he gave me the 8 on the big table race to 9 for 200 I won 9-2. NIce to see some newer players gamble Played some guys at sticks for 50 a set they had alot of heart. Ended up 200 bucks ahead at sticks.

So i snapped off the AZ poker tournament on Pokerstars for a nice little $250 profit. Spimp and Brad should play next week.

This the same guy that beat my brother out of $100? If so, he played decent but not your speed. You asking for a game from him or a ball is stealing!!! lol But apparently you know that now!
