Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Maybe you would like to play some?? Or are you like Frost, tell everyone that you can beat me even in one pocket, then ask for a spot? Oh wait, then he finds a way to get out of it by trying to make me look bad. Nice try! I did call him a piece of shit because that's what he was acting like! The guy acts like he's broke. The guy badmouths Athens and Jody, but turns out he's just like them!! I tried to make a friendly game with him and he turns it into this. That's what I get for trying to be nice, and he wonders why I can't stand him. He says that I can't get a game because I'm a jerk to everyone, hmm, pretty sure he's the only one who has an issue with me, since I don't work at Big Dog's anymore. He just loves to stir up drama when it's not needed. NO DRAMA MIKE!! If you want to start shit with people, why don't you do it somewhere else. Don't need it, don't want it.

So Brad, since you like to throw your two cents in, maybe you should step up!!

I'm not gonna go back and dig up my posts where I told you that I won't play you because you haven't squared up with Pet, but I do know I did say that.

As for me dodging anyone, Child Please! You,Athens,Frosty,Spina,Richardson,Pet, Gary and a few others have all asked me to gamble at one point or another. I have yet said to any of them "oooohh, no way! I'm scared!" or even "yeah, I'll play!!" and not showed up when I said I would.

I like to gamble. I like the idea of gambling. I like pool. I like the idea of playing pool. Putting the two together I like even more!
But what I don't like is people that run their mouths like you and say things that don't make any sense.(and yes I've said this before to you on here)

I don't really care for you so why would I play you?(unless you gave me some rediculous spot where I would just steal from you, then I would find it amusing to play you and take your money just for the sake of taking it from you!)Man, that sounded real "nitty" but whatever.

I enjoy playing pool and gambling. I wouldn't enjoy doing either of those two things with you. Apparently I'm not the only person that feels this way about you.

Its late, I'm rambling now.
I gotta go now and plow some snow and make an honest living!(Mikey, you still owe me!!! And if you don't pay, I'm gonna put more snow back than I got out of your driveway!!!):poke:

LOL like 10 ways. I'll buy out for $44.50

Anyone want to play some friendly sets this afternoon? pet, jimmy, Jon, etc.? I can only look at flip and dean for so long.

John Schmidt is at 166 balls and running. Stevie Moore ran 29 and missed. The race was to 100. Schmidt got out from a score of zero. There were bonuses for 100 and 150, now they added a bonus for 200 balls. He looks like he will never miss. If you aren't watching the accu stats you are definitely missing a sick sick run.

I took a lesson from him when he was here. He said he could run 400 and go out and do a marathon afterwards. He speculated that if Johnny Archer ran 400, they'd have to carry him out on a stretcher.:p

John said he knows how to conserve energy on shots thus he doesn't get very tired easily. (I'm working on it:rolleyes:)

He seems very effortless with his near perfection, doesn't he?

I feel like I should waste about 15 minutes of my life this morning to make a point about something that I feel is wrong! The topic, you guessed it, PATTERN RACKING in the Sunday 9-Ball tournament. I'm going to site the WPA (World Pool-Billiard Association) Rules for the 9-Ball rack as my main source.

Point #1:
WPA-Rules - Section 2.2 Nine Ball Rack
The object balls are racked as tightly as possible in a diamond shape, with the one ball at the apex of the diamond and on the foot spot and the nine ball in the middle of the diamond. The other balls will be placed in the diamond without purposeful or intentional pattern. (See Regulation 4, Racking / Tapping of Balls.)

Frosty Version - Put the 1 in the front, the 9 in the middle and just grab the damn balls and rack them up. Sometimes the balls are crappy so you have to move balls around to get the rack tight, I get that. However, just because you break the balls at speed means absolutely nothing. Unless you really really unload on the rack and hit it bad, the 1-2-3 are coming up table on a pattern rack not mentioning the balls you make on break. So if your idea of a fair competiton is playing 5-Ball while others play the game fairly, I wholeheartedly disagree.

Point #2
WPA-Rules - Section 1.1 Player’s Responsibility
It is the player's responsibility to be aware of all rules, regulations and schedules applying to competition. While tournament officials will make every reasonable effort to have such information readily available to all players as appropriate, the ultimate responsibility rests with the player.

Frosty Version - This basically means that eventhough the tournament is filled with people who play recreationally and aren't necessarily pool nuts, it is their responsibility to know when something illegal is being done to them right? Gonna have to call Bull Shit on that. IMO the tournament officials, in this case the people who run the tournament, should be aware of the rules and promote fair play. So what do you do if the tournament officials are the ones promoting the pattern racking? I guess it's simple, absolutely nothing I guess. Or maybe the tournament officials should be more well versed in the rules of the game we play? Or maybe they know the rules and simply choose to ignore them. All in all it is not good for the sport or the tournament.

In conclusion rack your own has the intent of simply ensuring the balls are racked tightly and if you shit rack yourself you have no one to complain to. It is not meant to give yourself an advantage in any way shape form or fashion. If you are racking for each other it's the same type of deal. Randomized racking is good for the game. I understand the Sunday tournament is not a WPA event and there are not world class players playing. Does that mean the rules don't apply to us?

Just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth. As they say, ignorance is bliss and if you knew better you would do better. So most people don't know when they are being cheated but if you do know you are morally obligated to bring it out.

Pattern racking is and always will be BULL SHIT. Think Corey Deull, soft break and pattern racking really helped 9-Ball when he did that didn't it? Nope, didn't think so.

Oh and if anyone was wondering how AZ Billiards feels about the topic, go to this link http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=163075&highlight=pattern+racking, seems more people feel like I feel about this topic! Cut the BS out and shoot pool fair and square. No it's not okay to exploit knowledge of the pattern rack, it's plain dirty pool.

How about having rack girls again?

Two advantages:

1.) No more biased racking.

2.) One more reason to forget about the rack.

Nice post Frost. I agree, at the higher levels it does cheapen the game somewhat. A banger like me wouldn't gain much from it, but Corey, Shane, Donnie M. and others have shown how powerful it can be at their level.

Some people will do anything to win. Plain and simple. Jody told me it dont matter how he racks the balls, hes still the best player there and will still win. I think you should bet him $50 that he can't win some night if you rack the balls for him.

Well yeah!!! I love those chicas at the US Open.

Did you know at the DCC they make it a very specific rule that pattern racking is not allowed and will not be tolerated? They're pros though, so the rules don't apply to amateur players I guess.

On most nights he is the best player that shows up to the tournament. 24 or more people I'd like to do that bet for 2 months and see how it turns out. Pretty sure I'd have the stone cold nuts though. That's just a hunch.

We got to talking last week and realized its the end of january and we didnt hear anything from scott and those guys about playing a team match up. :(

Maybe we can all match up at one of the state tournaments since we will all be there ? Probably BCA/ISPA ?
