Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I guess Jody, Mike and Randy can play as Pro players. Since Mike beat Don M. And Jody got 3rd and Randy 5th.

Guess they want to have lower handicaps come and donate their money, but dont dare try to win any of it. That is only for people with true ability. So what is the point of having a handicap tournament ? Make it a race to 7and let Barracks win the money everytime. You guys should be thanking Daniel for beating Barracks out, because none of you wanted to play him. Or how about this.........you could tell him good shooting. <--weird i know.

Their attitude and crappy way of running the tournament might have killed it anyhow. It's too bad but its the way things work. Plus they did it with people there live streaming it.

Few comments from things I saw and heard there.

Listen to the players and the people running the stream. They are the ones that help to make these things happen. It was a nice turnout, probably close to expected. Next one lets try to get 100+. A few people couldn't make it or were in Vegas so hopefully we can get even more next time. The stream people mentioned how the brackets were not done properly. I only glanced at them so I can't overly comment on it, but they have done enough of these things to probably see how successful tournaments are run. For some reason there wasn't much action/gambling from what it sounded like from the stream guys other then Lutman woofing. I am assuming the stream guys had to drive back to KC or wherever they came from which is why Justin and Jody's match and the rest were not streamed but Frost or someone there could confirm. Idealy if we get this big enough, or we have this more then once or twice a year we can maybe get someone in Des Moines to stream it so we can see the matches all the way through. This will of course cost money so we might need to brainstorm on how to do this.

Thanks to Randy and Big Dogs for hosting this. Hopefully it is a start to something that will improve and grow. Great shooting by Daniel, Justin, Jimmy, and some of the other Des Moines people. Glad to see you guys place high in the money, as well as upset the favorite (twice). Whoever knows how the top 12 spots and their handicaps ended up please post. Let's use this to gauge on how to get more players in there. If we can get several B players to place in the money or even calcutta it will open the door to more of the middle players wanting to play (hopefully).

Frost, nice job on the calcutta. Say what you want but if there would have been blind picks you don't get $3K in the calcutta and Barracks does not go for $475, but probably closer to (as a guess) $250 and so forth.

I look forward to more comments from the people who played/streamed on here, as well as when the next one might go off.

Wow! GREAT JOB GUYS!! Justin is lucky I wasn't there though.... When he plays me in a tournament he tends to loose his marbles.JK :yeah:

It's too bad that I missed it, but the look on my daughters face when she got on a full grown elephant at the circus was priceless!

Good post sir!

The day that Jody, Athens, and Randy play as pros, is the day we get 200 players in that tourney!! Athens would cry and cry as usual, Jody would figure out a way to mess with the brackets, and Randy would make everyone pros that he played :) I don't understand Randy at all...he was being a ***** to people instead of acting like he appreciated everyone being there! If you own a pool hall nowadays, you should maybe treat people a certain way so the will come back!! Also, people complained about no service Saturday night, but that's understandable because Des was the waitress. She's not very good!

There needs to be some big changes in how these tourneys are ran by Jody! This weekend he looked like they he'd never run a tourney before!! Either he should take some lessons from someone, or he shouldn't run them!! At least Athens didn't have anything to do with this weekend, or it would have been worse! I better be careful what I say about that guy, cause apparently he carries a weapon with him now, into Big Dog's!! Pathetic!!

Who is shortbus or shortrack? Can't run your mouth till we know who you are!!

I can't wait to hear their reasons on why they shouldn't be moved up! My question is this...will they move people down then too? Guys who didn't cash who were maybe overrated, do they deserve to be moved down then?

Get this: I was asked by Kampus for Big Dogs if they could borrow a tap to fix Daniel's cue. Hmmm.... a competitor(that has never said even hello to me, and has always givin may the cold shoulder) asking for my help for a guy(Daniel) that has always been a D#CK to me? Do you think they would ever help me? What do you think I said? Of course I said YES. I guess that is just the kind of person I am. I hope I atleast get a thank you from atleast Daniel.....

If there was another big pool room in DSM, everyone would play there instead! If Denny Arthur put all diamonds in his places I think people would go there a lot more!

I think you should have said no, but that's the kind of person I am :) It's funny how they have Kampas ask you too!
