Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Saturday 10 ball tourney

So what happened to the 10 ball tourney? There was so much interest and the it fizzed out... what's the deal?

Another couple of weeks and I should be up and running, working during the day and doing the tourney at night. I sure hope the turn out gets better!!

Presley is 3 weeks as of today. Amazing how muchs she has grown and changed already.

I hope she sleeps thru the night for you. Everything else a person can deal with. No sleep is a MFer though.

What's been the size of the Sunday tournament lately? i would love to get out - worth the trouble?

Any tournament on Monday night??
 
Anyone planning on playing the year end 8 ball tourney at Ankeny Stix in January? Its the weekend of the 8th I believe.

like 12 to 20. tournament is about dead.

10 ball on fridays is getting 30 to 45 every week. + its $7 + get a chance at the break n run which is like 75% of $1800 now.
 
Who all is playing in the big tournament next week whether it is just the one hole, nine ball, or both? I plan to come up and sweat some action and maybe throw down a bet or two...wish I was playing well enough to compete but maybe in the next one. This event will be streamed so hopefully a lot of the local crowd plays in it.

Brad, I won $120 on that race to 7 in 9-Ball...I beat Tom 7-1...you and your brother have to be nice to each other if you are going to whoop up on Pet and Tom.

It could be worse...I only made 15 balls last night and had 2 people do EROs on me. Pet broke and ran out and I broke dry and Henderson ran out. Tom and I were on our last game before Brad and Brian even showed up lol.
 
Yes Matt you did miss all the fun, Tom was letting me bet pretty good on the side, he's a sweet heart. He forgot to tell me him and Pet had the nuts haha jk, I think Brad and Brian should rob Pet and Tom getting two games on the wire to 5 in 8-Ball. It was fun to sit around drinking and watching the games.

P.S. Our league match lasted until 10:30 and we started on time. That's tough action there.
 
Spina, you were not alone in the "getting run out on" category! I think their whole team had 7 or 8 of them! Sowers ran out on me(even though he broke and shouldn't have but oh well). I snuck out with 2 wins against Pet and Victor. We did manage to squeak out a round and if Mikey wouldn't have ran out on Brian in the last game, we would have got 2! We showed up at 8:05 and were still done by 8:45!!! :outtahere:

Frosty, I agree. If my brother had his head screwed on right and wasn't trying to single handedly pay Smokey's mortgage payment with his purchase in Captain n Diet's, we might have had a chance! Take nothing away from Tom and Pet, they played awesome. It was scary that Pet had been counting how many shots Tom missed. I think going into the last set, Tom was at 2!!! Hard to miss when Pet leaves you perfect!:thud:

Tom told me he was just "planting a seed" and let you win the 9 ball....:poke:

Just a lil note to any of those that wanna play poker this coming Friday, $100 tourney. Should have around 15-20 people. BTW, I have the nice cards now! And yes, I know the BD 9 ball tourney is this Friday but the lack of advertisement didn't alert me to this before I set the date! :slap:
 
Brad, before I forget can you double check how many weeks are needed to qualify. I thought it was 6 but have heard it is really 8 from more than one person. Hope to see the Des Moines crew out this weekend for the Big Dogs tournament.

It was a nice trip. No great wins, but lots of little good ones. Played a good poker tournament at Binions. well, it was fun till I got third. Second sucked out twice on me and the big stacked played ultra-pussyfooted. Folded to everything that wasn't a 7 card straight Nuts -... :rolleyes: - but the experience was fun. The blond at the table from Canada didn't hurt the scenery any.

We need to figure out what you exactly meant by 'put 45 on black' - was that advice or lay some cash for you??

Frank Caliendo was roll on the floor laughing.

Saw the "Pawn Stars" pawn shop - not what I expected but lots of neat stuff for sale. If you have $100,000 burning a hole - they have some rings for sale.

Mandalay Bay was ritzy and pai-gow was one card away from a very BIG score. Lion King was a nice show.

Monte Carlo was fun and I would like to stay there next time I go and don't have to 'work' during the trip.

Lots of little Vegas stories, but I will say it was a good trip.
 
Got a chance to stop by Big Dogs Sunday on the way back from Fort Dodge. Props to the owner for one of the best rooms I've ever been to. You guys are definitely spoiled up there. Met "The Rookie" and looking forward to meeting the rest of you. Should be a hell of a weekend.
