Update on the Des Moines pool scene

So potentially one person who is playing lights out can dominate this game and a person may shoot two to three times and be out?

Yeah, some chump like me might not ever collect a chip. But i still think ill try a time or 2. Thats the main reason why something like this has never gone off before.

One funny thing i remember about a ring game back in Loco Joe's days. Athens/Phil/Jamie/Wes and someone else are playing a $2 $5 9 ball ring game. Athens breaks and runs the first 5 racks and everyone quits, lol.

Luck will play a big factor with only 10 chips. BUT, when has there been a ring game where luck was not involved?

Ouch...can you declare a raise when you are straight in on the 10 :)? If people are able to win a rack or two to at least be able to play for awhile then I can see it being sucessful.

Like I said earlier, I am 99.93% sure that I will be there on June 27. I hope it is still going and growing by then.

When do they open on Saturdays?

Still on a business trip guys sorry I havent been available during the day. I have been on my phone calling players and trying to spread the word. I have no idea who is actually gonna play when it comes down to it.

I'm gonna almost take a bet no one breaks and runs 2 straight racks of 10 ball on the big tables this saturday. ALL players pay the ante whether they shoot or not in a given rack. This is what makes ring games fun IMO if someone is playing good the pressure is on everyone else to play better.

If one table has 6 players and the other table has 4 players but started with 6 players I will not move a player over. Each table will play until it has 3 players left then the tables will combine. In order to keep an even distribution of chips you have to make sure the total value of all chips stays the same at each table, look at it like this.

Once a table gets down to 4 players with an ante of 2 chips the winning player can only win 6 chips per rack. So now there are 2 ppl eliminated or 20 chips in play already in other stacks. Now you move a player with say 16 chips over to the table with 4 players. This will leave table 1 with 44 chips total and table 2 will have 76 chips. This actually unbalances the tables eventhough theres an even amount of players.

I can't do this alone, I hope everyone is telling everyone they can about it and recruiting people as best they can. I wanna see this thing with 24 players in it and 1200 bucks in the pot for real. Lets get it done.

(snip) I have been on my phone calling players and trying to spread the word. (snip).

I'm telling you, this guy deserves a commission! I'm serious.

Anyone who is out there promoting pool and the pool hall this way is THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE POOL HALL'S BUSINESS.

Marketing is the highest business value, bar none. Mikey smokes the competition in this arena!

Smokes the competition, funny.... as if there was competition?

Mikey is a one man band and there is no substitute.

Thanks guys I appreciate the support. I encourage people to grab a pop and order an appetizer while they are there too. Grab a beer do something. I also have some special guests in the work for the TAR match next month, couple of my good buddies are gonna wanna play for around a dime just to keep the stream going. If all else fails I will play in a drinking match with someone for $500. I just got back to town and am super burned out right now.

No doubt Mike if I cant get the other games going I'll sure play one with you. First ball cant be hit til we are 6 drinks in though.

Little update about our Arizona visitors Gus Briseno and Bobby Emmons, looks like they did better than the Freezer on a bar box hmmmm...http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.php?storynum=6646
Isn't that interesting?? Then why wouldn't they play on a bar table in Des Moines I wonder? Weird!!
