Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I talked to some people here's what I have so far, of course nothing definite... The game will be 10 Ball.

1) Frost (The crowd pleasing favorite) - I'll be kayaking and fencing on every pocketed ball.

2) Mike Athens

3) Jody

4)Somphet

5) Gary DeCarlo

6) Hopefully Jason Chance

7) Victor Grandstaff

8) Theo Lee

9) Phil T.

10) Jon Brown if he's interested

11/12) I hope both Richardsons will come out, Justin for sure plays a good ring game cuz he's so aggressive and Jason pockets balls well.

This is mostly just preliminary and a couple people I haven't talked to yet. I think Brad, Spimp, Bruce, and Matt would also be good additions to the field. Tony Ellers has a chance. Daniel and Jimmy can hold it down for the minors.

Basically it's going to work and I promise you this no one will be locked out. If we need 3 tables, WE JUST GO GET 3 Tables. I have an awesome ante style of play. In other words the ante starts at 1 chip per game. Each player is given 10 chips to start out. Every 30 mins the anter will go up. If players do not have the ante amount they are all in that game and if they lose they are gone.

Anyone starting to get excited yet???

Great idea. I just need a cue and 3-6 months to try to make the list.

It's OK man. I saw him last night we didn't speak a single word to each other which either means he knows he was in the wrong or he thinks I was. Either way it's all good. I've been having a lot of fun lately and he's no one for me to let ruin that. We gotta get you back in there.

I'm planning on starting up a Saturday Ring Game there. I want it to be the biggest pay out of the week. Looking to do 2 tables with 6 people a piece and play standard ring game rules. I'm putting out some feelers for it now to see if I can get enough people to play. 12 people at $50/man gets $600 in the pot. I want to play it on the big tables too so you have to earn it to run out. I'll even run it and pay my own way in. All I want from Big Dogs is to donate the tables or work some type of deal out. It's normally pretty dead there Saturdays. A chance to win $400 or $200 is great odds on the money though. Maybe give 3rd place a free entry fee. I think it could be really good.

Sounds cool. Do you have any ideas to entice a couple of us lowly "B" players to donate? (maybe we could start with more chips?)

I like the idea of a singles league, depends on whether people care about sanctioning or other BS on the types of participation we could get. I'm gonna focus some energy on getting this ring game off the ground for this weekend. If it's a bust I'll keep trying until it's a success. From start to finish it should take 4-5 hours to finish. I'd like to start it early enough that people can still enjo the evening doing other things. Preliminary thinking around 4PM sounds pretty good.

Jason for whatever reasons I feel like you have been trying to pump things up on a different side of the house which is cool. I need you to get your crew members involved and wanting to play some too. Spread the word this week, give my number out...whatever it takes.

Two more people I want to see in it is Paul Ashmore and Paul Baker, that would make for a fun time. If we can get 50% of the folks to play that I'd like to see play we can fill it up and the winners can get a nice gift on Saturdays...plus if you get all those egos in the same spot think of all the action there just waiting to jump off.

Mike B. is right, all you need is $50 and the urge to match up tough.

Jason I....of course I have an idea for the "B" players to want to donate. No way the "A" guys get a free pass. We are going to have to divide players amongst the tables, so to start with I like the idea of having an "A" table and a "B" table. I also like the idea of a totally blind draw and let the "B" players start with an extra 2 chips over the "A" players. I'll do one of the two, I prefer to divide the tables though. I'm always up for suggestions, I do know what has worked in the past though.

Yea, both Pauls' should def play.

Mike B should play. Hell Dustin might drive over here for that. Or even the quad city guys.

Everyone on Mikey's list and the others that have been mentioned SHOULD play in something like this. What a great way to improve one's pool game. I will be there when I can.

Yeah i agree. Like i said before Sat. are just bad for me as i like to spend time with my wife and kids. Sadly this will always be a handicap as far as my skill level in pool go.

I was just thinking of people who have skill on the big table. And more people to add to a potential list to call/invite whatever.

I know man you never know when something may or may not take off. Let's get a cue in Mike Bennett's hand please, I hear through the grapevine he's considering a trip to Olathe.

If people decide they do not want to play the ring game, I'd like to see some folks sponsor some players for half the entry fee because this will no doubt be fun to sweat. Only way to sweat a ring game is to have cash in the middle.

Rick Goldman has been stopping by the pool hall often. Lots of guys have been coming out more than usual lately because it's a fun place to be. I think it's going to go off and be a hit.

I like the B or even B- idea. We can also handicap people and make them play with one eye closed, while standing with one leg, or playing opposite handed.

This i did not know. Thats why hes always John M to me

Although its in my phone as Metzger. AND IM LEAVING IT THAT WAY ! ! !

LOL. At least you now know that game is over, I'm sure he'll never even want to play with you again now. I actually think his gambling days are over. He worked it though no doubt.

Yeah, its funny after telling 50 people he could beat me even. Losing even, getting a spot and telling me he still should win even. Then quitting a set while i was up 2 im pretty sure he needs to quit to save face. I had no problems with him though. Thats why i didnt say a harsh word and gave him his $500 stake back. Hes a good kid who just let his ego run wild with his bankroll.
