Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Whoo hooo...Jon I'll be at Big Dogs for a bit after work to practice(god knows I need to hit some balls), let's come up with a game plan for TAR and this ring game before SVB and Frost play...Me thinks I figured out a good way of doing this one.

P.S. I watched Scott Frost win a local tourney at Kolby's last night on the stream, yeah was not impressed at all. It was on a big table though. He missed a lot of shots though, SVB would have punished him for those mistakes. I feel really good about SVB at the end of this month!
 
Not to get into a big discussion, but...

I think the stream on the net was probably not Scott's finest work. I would expect him to bring the top speed in a couple weeks. Last I saw him play, I was more than impressed. He'll give Shane a match.
 
I don't wanna see a close match, I wanna see someone win by 60-70 games!!!! SVB is ready to throw out some 15 packs, it's gonna be some kind of show for sure.

I would be willing to bet there are no 15 packs in the match! Regardless hopefully we see a good showing by both.
 
OK I was asleep and a great idea just woke me up. It's time to start up an in house league for Thursday nights. Non sanctioned straight the hell up cash league. Not just any old in house league either where we play one game, that's no fun. I wanna do a mixed game in house league. I'd like to cap it off at 8 teams. I wanna do Barbox 8-Ball, Big Table 9-Ball, Big Table 10-Ball, and One pocket.

I'm soliciting for a committee to help organize this...if you wanna help out hit me up, I'd like to start the league in September. OK going back to sleep now.
 
Ring game before SVB vs. Frost

Is there going to be a ring game or tournament before the SVB vs. Frost match? I thought one was in the works...if so, are there any details or hints as to what it will be? Entry fee, etc?

Mike, I believe they are having one this weekend. I think there is a thread started in this main section with the details...still $55. Mikey has volunteered to be a waitress if need be.

Yes we are doing one before the TAR match on that Thursday as well. We are working out the extras though. They most likely will include a DVD of the Frost Vs. SVB match and a T-Shirt. We are gonna talk about other things as well so we'll see. Entry Fee may go to a $100 but possibly could stay the same as normal per Jon Brown. All types of good things can happen in this game since everyone is supporting it, I'll tell you this, this won't be the one to miss!

We also have one going off this Saturday, come on out Mike!

SO, is it going to have a cap? I would like to donate just for the 'experience'. I have a renewed interest in playing on a 9' table. I think that with the circus in town you may get WAY more players than you could imagine.

Thursday Pre F vs S will be spectacular!
 
Should we start billing this as the "Clash in the Cornfield"? "Hustle in the Hog-lot"?

"Thrilla in Manilla" got used... nothing rymes with Des Moines.

"Bamboozle in the Bean Patch"? maybe.

We might have to cap it off just getting it organized now, we'll see.

As far as a name for the event goes..."Battle for the Cattle...that makes the cheese" LOL

I am going to Chicago this weekend for the Cubs vs. the Cards (GO CUBS!) so I won't be able to make it Saturday. I will definitely be playing on the Thursday before SVB vs. Frost. In my opinion the entry fee should be higher since it is a special event. Somewhere around $100? With all the good players in town, I am sure I will be an underdog, but it will be a good experience regardless. I am looking forward to it!

Fair enough Mike, I'll keep you posted on the TAR game. We're like the opening act at a concert, Shane and Scott are probably playing in it just to let u know. I'll play cuz I'm a sucker for the camera time JK
 
I'm looking to make a small ($50-$100 range) sweat bet on the Frost SVB match. I prefer to keep it local with someone who will be in attendance. I won't be there Friday or Saturday, but will be there Sunday night to either pay or collect. My money is on Shane. Anyone interested?
