Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Do you remember the one thing Scott kept saying afterwards? That's the last time he lets SVB rack the balls. He said this repeatedly, that's all I need to know.

I don't know "carlot", but I gotta like Shane in this one. Like they said, he plays good. Remember he won the US Open on big tables. I think he is comfortable...

I'd like to do a little 5 man team one pocket match up in a 25 game format. It can be played as a point a ball and 10 if you win the game. My team will consist of players from my valley/bca team.
The Oilman
The Legend
The Locksmith
Little Efren
and Me

Build a team and put up some cash.

Hypothetically who would you go against that even remotely has a chance to win??? Or does the other team just get 10-6 off the bat. I can't think of 5 people that could win there.

I also assume The Legend is Don M., that's dreamin there buddy...you could probably open that offer up to the state and people would have trouble getting a team together, just sayin.

Yeah, that sounds fun...Frost is right when he says the state would have a hard time with that team. That team would have to spot just about any team they play. So, good luck with that one Justin!!

I wanted to copy and paste what JCIN replied to me in another thread. He said he has three rules when gambling on pool.

1. Never bet against Shane.
2. Never bet against a Filipino.
3. If Shane is playing a Filipino keep your money in your pocket and enjoy the show.

Based on JCIN's logic I'm gonna take option 1.
Those are the best three rules ever put out there for gambling on pool!! Thank god for suckers:)

"The Legend" is Jamie not Don. It's not like I picked the 5 best one hole players in town. I just picked 5 guys from my team. There are at least 4 or so other guys in town who spot me in one hole and a few more who play me even.

If the teams are too out of whack then I'm sure we can work out a ball spot.

You drunk again, Justin? :slap:

There prob would be a bit more action out there for Scotch doubles one pocket...All I can say is whoever plays, make sure you can get paid if you win. There are more IOU's in this town right now than Ive ever seen anywhere in my life. Pretty crazy.

Welcome to Des Moines. For some reason that is the norm. I am still waiting to get paid from 3 1/2 years ago. He paid off 75% in the first few months and that's it. Maybe he thought I was letting him out for 75%?

What - IOU's aren't the same as cash?? Maybe if they just write a check?

Brad - what's your day look like?? Maybe at 3??

Lol something tells me you won't get the rest, but hey you kinda got paid. On top of that they prob dont ask you to play anymore which is good for you also.

Almost every debt that I know of that is owed probably won't get paid off. The reason is their is no consequence for the stiffers in this town. You can be bad action and still get played here because everyone is "Friends." Everybody is a "good guy" just ran into some "problems" etc etc etc. We all have problems and some of the worst things that happen tend to happen to the least deserving people. End of the day the war story doesn't matter.

I think it's laughable people are guessing when the air barrell is coming at all times. I think it's even more funny that the "players" and "gamblers" don't follow unwritten rules that are clear most places that you go. If you stiff until you get everything straight, you get no action. Here so many people stiff, the stiffers can just play the stiffers. It's pretty sad actually. I ain't Joey, Chandler, or Ross...if we were "friends" we wouldn't have been betting much if anything at all in the first place.

You mean writing a check that could actually cash??? I doubt it....other thing I've wondered about here is where does this pawn shop mentality come from. I think there's a pawn shop up the street, go there with the stuff please.

Just curious.......

Why don't people discuss these kind of things before people play? Like....
What do you wanna play for?
Whats the race/set?
Who gets the breaks?
Winner/loser breaks?
Heads/tails?
DO YOU HAVE MONEY 'ON YOU' TO PAY IF YOU LOSE????

One of the best quotes(for gambling) I've ever seen: CARRY CASH, IT DOESN'T WEIGH MUCH!

Pride...I say you get one strike...if shit happens it happens....but if you don't pay once you will have to get up to date on your current bill and post from now on.
