Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Justin and I are going to play. I'll try to give someone a nice easy win.

I'd rather beat idiots out of money, it seems more fun.

Something about that line makes me laugh, belongs in a signature somewhere.

Looks like there will be 43 or 44 people, I gotta play "Classics" at the same time so that should make for a great Saturday. I will not be pumping up the calcutta either, not worth spending $120-$150 for someone to win $450, especially once you add the chop in.

I am assuming that this is the year end tournament from the Sunday top 64 or whatever right? What time does that tournament start on Sundays normally? I wouldn't mind hitting it a few times this year if it is early enough so I am not out till 1 in the morning on a school night.

Sunday tournament starts at 6 pm. Be there by 5:45 to sign up. I have been playing the last few weeks and have been home before 12 every week. They are getting 32 players on average the last few weeks.

I have the APA tournament aswell. we have a bye, then play at 4pm, if/when we win we play Sunday morning i think, lol.

I'll be there. should be good tourney, if we don't lose all the tables to the league thing going on.

Jody thought about 30-35 people probably playing. usually we don't get everyone that qualified to show up.

should also be a good calcutta.

frost, how about our 10 ahead 9ball set on saturday ?

Yes we can do that.

What time is the tourny Saturday? I might stop up and sweat it since I have some friends playing in classics at 1130?

Talked for a bit with Mark and John S tonight. Earl was outside, really cool guys.

Don't totally take my word for it, but a little birdy told me Jason C would be playing Earl some $100 1pkt tonight around 8pm. I'll be back up there aswell, and seeing me is worth something ;)

You guys who should get out there tomorrow. Earl was in top form, ill bet its a good show. John S is actually a pretty funnny guy.

Jason Chance played Schmidt even 1 hole for roughly 4 hours. There really was no loser. For those who dont know, Schmidt won the 1 hole at the DCC last year and is the defending champion. Chance stayed even with him for 3.5 hours playing dead even. They bet $200 in a race to 2, and JS pulled it out.

I now know how I lose money betting against Chance. If they play 9-7 Jason has a really good shot. It was great to see.

I've been telling people for years that Jason is one of the top 5 in the state with very few believing me. This just proves to me even more that he is. Nice showing by him.

Its just too bad his outstanding play gets clouded by the knucklehead who is usually lingering around him(ie: the tall, bald, skinny, homeless kid!)

What happened to him playing Earl?

Long story short, Earl wanted to leave and John wanted to play.

Jason does pretty well for a guy who at most plays 2 times a week. He hadn't screwed his cue together for probably a week and a half and jumped cold in the box with John.

Wes and i posted this on Facebook.

Come out to BIG DOG BILLIARDS tonight. Professional pool players Earl "The Pearl" Strickland and John "Mr 400" Schmidt are putting on an exhibition!!! 1st 100 paid guests through the door receive an autographed cueball!!! Be there to see Earl and John show you some amazing trick shots and stroke shots!!

I can't wait for tonight. I have a feeling there will be more action. I think Jason is a perfect example of their being more money in business than pool. I have to feel like he'd play even better if he actually played more than a couple times a week for more than an hour or two at a time. I doubt 4-5 hrs. a week is enough to play your top speed.

With that said last night either means Schmidt laid down to get more action tonight or Jason can play one pocket with anyone in the world. People can try to down play Schmidt winning the DCC undefeated all they want to, but he's a true champion.

Hopefully lots of people come out. Schmidt asked Jody to play a $100/game and Jody said yes to him for tonight so I wonder if that's going to happen. I'm also looking for Earl to draw his ball.

Oh and I've never seen anyone run a 100 balls live and talk through it. Schmidt said he will only try if people want to see it. I'd like to see him give it a go, another thread said he made it to 80 something before he missed. Let's let Big Dogs be the place he hits the 100 mark!
