Update on the Des Moines pool scene

What's up with the master's numbers?? 11 teams? seriously?

There are like only 50 in the masters 8-ball or 9-ball. 45 of which are NOT named Behnke. Good thing they are playing, keeps our numbers up!

Open 1 has less than 230? Open 2 has 400+?? Is this wacky or is it just me??

11 teams seems a bit low. What I am hoping is that for the lower numbers in certain events they just let people form teams on site. It wouldn't be the worse thing in the world if they maybe let some teams give it a go in two divisions just to get the money up. How good can the money be for 11 teams in a division?

Ken will obviously be the expert on this subject, but let me take a stab...

I do know that over the last couple years a few leagues have dropped out of the ISPA. I think that a couple of these leagues started the BCA state tournament? Someone correct me if I am wrong. This year I know that Green Amusement out of Ft. Dodge is not ISPA sanctioned. These are just the ones that I have heard about.

11 teams in the Masters division is low, but I know that one year we played and there was 12. We played two groups of 6, round robin. I don't think it is shocking that there is only 11, historically speaking.

My new favorite drink is Grey Goose, X-Rated, and Red Bull...it's so tropical and hits hard. Perfection.

Everybody pumped up for state? Someone find me a ladies partner if they can, I don't know the chix with stix and I want to play in the doubles shabangbang.
That Jack-n-Jill will be fun on Friday! Looking forward to the whole weekend! It's always nice to get out of town and play tournaments. Good luck to everyone I like, that are going from Des Moines!!

What I don't get is why they don't replace the people that are running BCA in Iowa with someone who knows what they are doing!! There should be a BCA state tourney every year, and it really should be the biggest of all of them. We play BCA league, so why isn't there a big state tourney here in Des Moines? IMO, the people who are running things now for BCA don't have a clue how to run a state pool association!!! REPLACE THESE PEOPLE NOW!!

It is a little strange that we don't have a state tournament in Des Moines. The location should draw the most players if they gave it a chance.

And if your avatar moved her hands, I would have a chance at seeing something really nice. lol

Drifters tournaments

hey Des Moines players, this is Ryan Cobb. I just want to let you know of some things going on in Lincoln while you are here for Midwest. Drifters pool room is holding a huge eight ball tournament October 1st-3rd. They are holding qualifiers everyday all day when Midwest is going on. Eight people per qualifier, single elimination, twelve dollars per person. The winner gets a budweiser cue and has free entry into the tournament. The tournament in October is going to be $100.00 entry and they are gonna try and have $10,000 in the pot. Check out their website for full details. www.drifterspoolroom.com. They are located at 32nd and Cornhusker. They will hold qualifiers all day as long as they have eight people to play. Hope to see you there!

IOWA STATE MASTERS CHAMPIONS!!! If you weren't there to see Jason Richardson get out on the hill, of the second set, of the finals today, you really missed something special! He really came through for the team when we needed him most!! I'm so proud to be a part of this team...it really is fun :)

Congrats to Troy, Pet, and Steve, for taking second...great playin guys! Congrats to Tony, Orion, Theo, Jimmy, and Daniel for winning the Level 1 tourney!!! Des Moines was well represented this weekend, and we brought home the hardware!!!

Troy, Pet, and Steve, I have to say that you three guys are a class act. I have just learned not to expect the same from the other guy on your team. I thought you guys played with a lot of heart today!! I'm happy that we got the two Des Moines teams into the finals...pretty cool!

One more thing...I have to say that the ISPA really knows how to run a tournament!! I thought the tables, the match times, and the people running the tournament, made this event something I want to attend every year! Thanks to Ken Miller and everyone else for putting on a great tourney!! I wish the Valley crew could have been there to learn something :)

Daniel played with Frost. Anthony played on Jimmy's team.

You also forgot to mention Jody and Mike on Pet's team, but perhaps your spellchecker just auto deletes those names... ;)

According to Microsoft Encarta dictionary the definition of class is phrased as such (having elegance and refinement).... I'm pretty sure that shouting, name calling, and taunting while someone's team is engaged in a match for the finals just shows a LACK of class.

Good job from the Des Moines teams. I wish I could have been there to play and cheer the boys on. Hopefully next year. Congrats again!

Your post seems to LACK valueable information, like who are you talking about ?

Ispa

Just wanted to say thanks to the ISPA crew. The tables played nice and it was well run.

A special shout out to Pat Diveney for his donation of two cues for the Junior tournament. My son got second and was still talking about it this morning on the way to school.

Good shooting everyone.

Troy, that was such a neat post~ congrats to your son!! I'm sure he will be on cloud 9 all week!!

We need to get our son Carter and your boys together to play some pool. Carter LOVES to play and has a determination for the game that I'm afraid we may have created a monster~ LOL....
