Update on the Des Moines pool scene

My god I've been gone for ten days, anxious to catch up on some seeit, and what do I get? Accolades of Bruce (da, tell us something we don't know), random poker tourneys, and some old news about rex's new joint. Is this site still on probation? I want dirt, gossip, conjecture, matchups, meltdowns, and anynomous lies! Stay Thirsty My Friends (best commercial going right now)

Gary just wants to view the car-wrecks (i guess we all do). Speaking of, were you hustling joints down south??

what is this new joint you all speak of?? I never got to Big Shots -- same place, different name? Diamonds sound good, but if they have a lot of 'weekend warrior' types, I guess the felt would need changed pretty quick. Although $7 drinks will help cover that.

Any action the last week or so? Sunday tournament still getting turn out or has the summer doldrums set in? I think memorial day weekend could be my huckleberry.

Bruce give the best ride around the block of anyone I know of...:grin:

I just a ole cowpoke from okyhoma da only joints i hustled got me tired all quick. didnt even make want to eats. I thought I already wrote this, maybe I did get high. Rex is naming the place Felt. i told him thats more exciting than garden tilling. how bout Green Felt, or Felt pen. Oh well, you pay your money, you get your choice. The place is primarily valleys, 20 or so, all in the main area. The 9' diamonds are because he does want to have serious players there, it's just that the Valleys are needed to attract the league players and generate revenue. I tried to tell him to get some diamond bar boxes but he said, "You just an ole cowpoke from okyhoma", so I left. That I believe is the table scenario. I do know the poker players will love that room. Private and nice. Would be nice to catalog the stories that will unfold in there. out!

Run some daily little poker tournaments. I doubt he'd be open long with cash games going. Valleys and Diamond 9's are good. Need leagues.
 
This place is about a mile from where I live so if done correctly I can guarantee between a minimum of 5-10 people on my side of town that will frequent there regularly depending on the price of alcohol and pool.

Edit - throw in the lil poker tourney and if done the opposite of Smokeys I can guarantee 3-4 people for that as well.

Rex couldn't find a hobby? I would think there has to be better things to do than own a pool room. :shrug:

I mean, I think it would be fun, but probably not insanely profitable. But who knows...:confused:

They have a lot of huge TVs, full kitchen(Rex can cook his booty off), long bar, a ton of seating, SHUFFLE BOARD I think, and then some of the most beautiful tables man has ever seen. I could see where it could be successful.

Ya, if you aren't successful with an establishment that sells alcohol, you are doing something wrong...
 
Just to bring this thread to the front I have been in 280 hands and only have seen 4 pocket pairs (5s 8s 10s ks)....should not be playing poker this late lol.

All in preflop hands, that = me losing out of tournaments:
AA -vs- 66
AA -vs- 99
KK -vs- 55
AK -vs- AQ
AK -vs- QJ
AQ -vs- A6
77 -vs- 97 --- yep
77 -vs- 22
AAKQ -vs- AK25 --- PLO HIGH.

Dinking around a won an fpp satellite to the 250K tournament today ($11 buy in). There are only 31106 entrants I have to beat out lol.

So you get second place instead of snapping them off...no seriously though thats some bad beats...
