I wouldn't mind seeing some good pool played. I can't get that from watching me play - I stink. ON ICE.

So... if a left-handed guy with a southern accent comes in and wants to play, I should...
a) Get the 4 out and the breaks
b) Run for home.
c) Get Brad over to back me and jack the bet!
d) Buy Mikey another drink (+2 on the recent outings) and ask his advice.
e) Call for a big shooter to come in and take it off....

He might win all three if the whole world shows up the way he is hitting them right now.

I am assuming that the 9 and 8 ball are on the bar boxes.
 
Any promo from the Dog for the tournament in two weeks? or is this gonna be a locals' only event.:grin-angelic:

Two weeks is hardly enough time to get my forms filled out in triplicate for my kitchen pass, just to drive 3 blocks to sweat some of it, not to mention play in it.

I think it would be tough to organize a safari from 4 or 5 hours away to play all weekend. Maybe I'm just a planner like that....:rolleyes: Everyone else probably just jumps in the car...

Hope it comes off well.

More diamonds is gonna be nice too.:grin:

Yeah he's killing it on the bar table. His luck has not been so great in the box at that one hole game though. There are some guys that can play him within 300 miles.

The tables are there now. I went just to see the layout I like it.

The thing that will keep the champs away is added money. People are not driving 5 hours or even 4 hours to play for $600 first place. Also sounds like too much to do in 3 days unless you expect 32 or 48 person fields.

I was hoping for some $70-$80 entry fee events with capped fields of good players and nice calcuttas. I do believe that the current format will be far more lucrative though because you will get more league players and drinkers in the pool hall this way.
 
These tournaments could be a great start to something big, but they need a good organizer. If they don't have someone that can inform people in at least a 500 mile radius and get added money, they will get ignored. I agree, no one is going to drive here for the weekend with entry fee, hotel, and food expense just to break even.
 
Yeah on the 9th the Peoria tourney is going, On the 23rd White Diamond and Brickyard are having their big tourneys, the 28th is the start of Olathe. Don't forget the Beloit tourneys this month too. Lots of stuff going on, hopefully our room is on someones calendar somewhere.
 
Anyone want to go skydiving this weekend? I'm getting married on Saturday and we going skydiving directly after we tie the knot. It should be a blast!! or a splat.....
 
Well, since I am afraid of heights PASS...instead of potentially getting killed jumping I am going to try not to get killed playing in regionals at Stix II.

You only live once............SPLAT!! We have both been married before and have realized that the whole "fairytale" wedding is just a huge pain in the ass and pocket book, and it is just a big show for everyone else. We wanted to do something kind of off the wall, and in Iowa our choices are a little limited. We figured this will be something we will never forget no matter the out come. LOL

You have a Mexico trip planned, save the sky diving money for bail money or a recreational cocaine purchase. Oh and congrats, I'll probably never get married. My brain is not connected to the breaker that feeds that illogical thought process. Call me "The Disconnect"

this is going off in October? Im in. Ill be flying home on the 8th and won't be flying out til Nov 7th
 
Looks like the one pocket calcutta is set for Friday the 15th at 6PM, the calcutta for the 9-Ball is at 9AM on Saturday, Sunday 9 AM calcutta for the 8-Ball.

Calcutta's are a little early in the morning but hopefully that won't impact the money in there.

Looks like the one pocket is 32 max people and the 8 and 9 ball tourneys will be 64 max people so I am thinking they will most likely be filling up.
 
So, is this a for sure thing, or what? This is my weekend with my daughter, and I don't want to "make arrangements" with the fire breathing dragon of an ex-wife if this is just hear say.... I figured it would be on the tournament page by now.

Ah, Bruce - if it's just you and me; it'll be fun. Plus the usual suspects from DM and surrounding 45 miles. Why invite others into our little ecosystem - let's not upset the food chain.

Mikey - I won't be there till late tomorrow, but will look forward to the Magic!

PS - Bruce - what would it take to get a snooker shaft for one of my cues? Probably a Viking QR joint. Ever made a snooker shaft? Brass ferrule?
