FYI, I just updated my online glossary of pool and billiards terms and phrases. Please take a look and let me know if you can think of any important terms or phrases not included. Also let me know if you disagree with any of the existing definitions. Here it is:

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave. I don't know if this would be important to include, but what about Scuffler. Minnesota Fats describes it best in that youtube video of Johnston City.

jelly roll: a very favorable roll of the cue ball (e.g., when it ?rolls off? or takes an extra fraction of a roll at the end of travel) to create perfect position for the next shot.

I seem to understand this to be different. I refer to a Jelly Roll as a payoff of sorts to someone who steers you to a favorable money outcome...You basically are giving them a "jelly roll"

Here is a couple (at least heard around my parts)

Doughnut (aka: Skunk) - Beating someone by something to 0

Saver - An agreement between to players that are playing a match (usually right before the money). The winner will pay the loser a set amount of money to the loser...(usually the value of the entry fee, or a little more)

Air Barrell - The value of the bet is considered a Barrell...The player that is "firing the Air Barrell" does not have the money in his pocket to cover the bet.

Rainbow - All the balls in a 9-ball rack... (Usually used in matching up with a very weak player... Example (I will give you the Rainbow)

Orange Crush - Giving the 5-ball or the 5-out

Lock - (see Nuts) - A Bet you can't lose

Lock Artist - One who only bets on "locks"

Mechanic - A person that is an expert at giving bad and/or stacked (loaded) racks

Tit - Point of pocket

The following are unofficial but probably used enough to qualify

HH - Hal Houle

3-Line - An Aiming system taught by Hal Houle

I am sure I will think of others.... :)

Few More

On Tilt - A player that has gotten outwardly/noticably upset.

Go Off - A person that is known to lose a bunch of money... "He is a Go Off"

Squeeze - To continually play safe.... "He is putting the squeeze on"

Oh and

Butterface - A girl in the pool room that looks outstanding "but her face"

(sorry I had to throw that one in there) :D

Good point. I just added:
" Also, payment to somebody who helps you win money (e.g., in a gambling set-up, or in arranging a match)."

Thanks.

I already had "tit" or "tittie." I added "lock," and I will check out and consider the others.

Thanks,
Dave

I added "on tilt" and "go off." "Squeeze" has lots of meanings. I'll need to work on that one. I actually have heard about "butterface" before, but I think I'll leave that one out.

Thanks again,
Dave

One that I just saw here a while back, "Barney ball and the crackles"= four ball and the break. Might qualify separately.
