Updates from Mobile, AL

It took place in Tulsa a few years ago. $10,000 a set. Alex won the flip and put 6 pack on him out of the gate and then JW hit him with a 7 pack right back. I agree Dennis H. and John S have the potential to win but try to find a steakhorse to do it might be quite difficult. Im sure James could easily get staked for 20K for either one.

Happen to talk to Chad at all for me today?

here are self proclaimed guys that can beat anyone for the money, let alone americans, Danny Basavich and Gabe Owen.

Gabe Owen versus James Walden 10ahead for $20k???????

and

Danny Basavich vs James Walden 10ahead for $20k???????

this is about the bottom half of the top 10 and tony watson is DEFINITLY in it, and ahead of both Basavich and Owen to boot.

Alright here it is. Chris beat JW at the US open with the 7 but with one catch, Danny B. got to break for him. And Danny,s 9 foot table break is awsome. I watched the whole set. JW played poorly though betting his own money. Danny, Gabe, Kirkwood, Tony Watson would absolutely never ever play JW even. The time before he gave Chris the 7 and the last 3 and played flawless and won. Chris played great too. To go back to the Dennis Hatch story he has always got robbed by Brian Groce. The last I heard Gabe was playing with the 7 from James and having the worst of it. Not positive about that though. James has one of the highest tight pocket gears on earth.

good to hear about headcase hatch getting robbed lol Its just hard to believe it was Brian Groce???

must have been some weight involved here or something

also i was just naming players at the bottom half of the top 10. IMO the Waldens top 5 challengers for the cash are Archer, Deuel, Morris, Hatch and Schmidt. JMO

Brandon must still be playin"

Finally, I've got the scoop.

Wade Crane beat Bill Bailey. Shannon and Jeremy played. Score 7-7 SD breaks comes up dry- JJ runs the set out.:( Then JJ plays Brandon Thomas and has him 8-2 and lost the set.??? I don't know I guess all you can say is bar table 9-ball. John Schimdt got beat by David Crest. Alot of good players fell by the wayside today.

Then we have the final 16- Matches are as follows:

Winners side:

James Walden/Wade Crane
Randy Jordan/Doug Young
Chuck Dorsett/Billy Miles
Josh Hilliard/Chad Vilmont

One Loss side:

Gary Abood/Bill Bailey
Paul Song/Bill Folmar
David Crest/Gary Lutman
Brandon Thomas/Cliff Joyner

Who will be the winner???

I'll take James Walden.

We'll see. Will update as soon as I get info.

Sorry it took so long my laptop is acting up.
I was really good friends with Brandon's Dad back in the 80's. He came up from Florida last winter and got word to me he would play some set's with me. The guy delivering the info said he would probably play some for 500 with the wild 8, so I made the arrangements to meet up and play. I tried to get him to bet 500 a set and we haggled some til the bet was 200. Played I don't know how many set's over the next 5-6 hours and broke even. He played some great pool. I guess he's still playing a lot. Great shooting Brandon. It takes some heart to be down that much and win. Keep shooting them in.

Brian has always robbed Dennis playing even. Brian Just quit playing for over 10 years. He even used to plaw JW even and held his own. Played a few times and came up a little on the shy end overall.

If you think that Tony Watson can beat Gabe or Danny, you got me. When and where? And how much can I bet???

Chris Bartrum beat Gabe even. Chris won't play Tony even. I think Tony is the favorite, but I do not know how to get in touch with Tony. I can make some phone calls tomorrow though and find out. How much would you stake Gabe for? It would probably take at least 3K to bring Tony down to Jacksonville. Let me know and I will do the arrangements.

A Ring Game is where players play until they themselves decide to drop out.

The match you described is what we call, 'Last Man Standing' or 'Holdem' tournament.

And remember to dot your i's and cross t's .... lol

What you call 'Last Man Standing' or 'Holdem' tournament. We call a Ring Game and always have. It is also called a Ring Game at the DCC and other tournaments. Never heard of it called any other way.

Too bad Cooney retired. They matched up in 1 Hole and Jame's backers were not very happy. But that was quite awhile ago.

however much you want

First, let me clarify something. Chris NEVER beat Gabe even. Second, if you wanna bring Tony to play Gabe, the window is open. You can bet whatever you like. I am in West Palm, but we could do this n a number of places. Let me know. I am serious about the bet, the amount is up to you.

im not speaking for anyone but id say that outside of your top 3 americans dennis hatch and john schmidt would both like to play him even nine ball for big money. Not sure if they have already played and if so if the loser of the match had the balls to step up and try again. Any stories would be great.
Well, y'all may get your wish. Reportedly James Walden and John Schmidt are to play in Baton Rouge on Sat., 8/19. Supposedly the contest is a race to 21 for 2 bags. If it actually occurs, I like Schmidt.

Doc

Chris lost to Gabe for $8K the first set and won the 2nd for 20K. But I will try to get in touch with Tony today.

I dont think so

When and where did this happen. Chris never beat Gabe doing anything for 20k.

In Oklahoma about 7 months I think. May be a little longer ago. I will try to get in touch with Tony if you want to back Gabe. Post message me and will work it out. 10 ahead for how much $ and I'll try to put together for next week.

Hey im just going on the past when tony beat basavich even 10 ahead at qmasters in va. during the open a few years back and the lack of gabe or anyone will to back gabe(ie Wiseman or anyone) stepping up to play tony at the carolinas open. If you can beat the man you can sure can win a bunch, last year the only man to play tony sets for several K was Tony Chohan. BTW IIRC he tried a couple different times with no success. BTW the best way to beat tony is to try to bet by the game and lower the bet to like one or two hundred a game and his intrest level drops IMO and then you have a much better chance. But to me even a hundred a game is very pricy. JMO
