Billiard lovers,

HOW MANY THINK THAT HOSTING THE WORLDCUP in VEGAS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE USA?
Your feed back is very important, or you can say yes it is or No it's not.

THANKS

Fox that question is hard to answer.

Yes. For American to watch High caliber players.

No. If there a small spectators turnout.

If USBA only have 600 members and say only a 100 show for Tournament, low turnout. As Spectator.

USBA should have 10 members playing. But we be lucky to have even one.

Tournament is needed, but spectators are in more Demand. What the seating number for spectator for Las Vegas ????

And what result were there after Bob Jewett held the Tournament? Back when??

Yes. When you're on -- keep shooting. When you're off -- keep shooting 'til you're on. Consistent, high profile and high quality exposure of billiards to the public is the only path to wider popularity. We need fans, heroes and angels. The more we are out there - the more likely it is they will find us. My 2 cents.

The WC is absolutely VITAL to Billiards in the US!!! I cannot believe ANYBODY would think differently!! I will always continue to play billiards regardless of the WC just for the love of the game but the NEW players will not be so easily INFECTED with the BILLIARD VIRUS if they cannot see how truly magical this wonderful game is when played at the highest level!

Maybe you disagree but I see the PROGRESSION OF BILLIARDS as follows:
the BEST players in the world were once inspired by their predecessors to play even better than the best!
now THEY inspire the lower and mid level pros (1.0 - 1.5ish) to work harder and play better so they can take down one of the big dogs! I've never talked to any of our top players in this country that didn't get jazzed up about the Top 10 coming to town. They RAMP UP their games and RISE to the occasion!!
The B players see all of this going on and want to rise up to our top players and throw some games at them with the C players nipping at their heels as well! With all this going on, how could a NEW player NOT get wrapped up in it all?? They start seeing shots they've never seen before and get practicing on their games and searching for instruction.

If our top players have nobody to FORCE them to RISE UP,
HOW CAN THEY??
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THEM TO PLAY EVEN BETTER??

I don't think it's important for a lot of players ,

STEVEN, Thanks for your reply ,I heard that the USBA changed the constitution specially after they had to deal with HERMANO!

I would love to hear a statement from the board (not from JIM)
talking about what have been changed and what is in the USBA schedule for the 2011 ( since I am USBA MEMBER and My RIGHTS to know what's happening )

what's the strategy ?

I think that basically answers it.

I am surprised by how little interest this event has even gotten on this site. Seems too like there is some underlying resentment people have in that this outsider Ermanno was able to bring a World Cup event to this country while the USBA couldn’t. Was having a World Cup even important to the USBA? Just curious, maybe it isn't even part of their mission. I am not a billiard player but a fan of the game and watching these highly talented pros play. These events do help to bring interest to the game. I never knew how well the game could be play until watching guys like Sang Lee at Chris’ Billiards and the Carom Tour stop held there a decade ago with the likes of Blomdahl and Caudron. They help to give the casual fan a better appreciation of the game and maybe a spark to pick it up, and this game definitely needs a spark in this country. What better way than to showcase a World Cup.

Shouldn’t the actual host venue info and details have been announced by now given that it is only 8 weeks away, or is that the norm for these UMB events? Maybe that could help with the attendance  I will be out there that week for a trade conference at Caesar’s so I am looking forward to attending the event.

I think ANY exposure is good for the game. Even a reality TV show (and I hate reality TV) would be good for the game.

Obviously a lot of sub aspects to be discussed but in short I say YES to ANY kind of exposure.
