Looking at the surrounding area looks like a shopping mall and a little league stadium. Are there things to do in the area or is it just a suburb with a bunch of office buildings around?

cheaper than dallas presumably. casino?
no casinos in texas other than a couple tribal spots. frisco is basically dallas. only drawback is the time of year. dallas area in summer is gulf humid and hotter than gates of hell. be prepared to be indoors. if playing golf you gotta go EARLY. the PGA hq is in Frisco with two super nice courses.

LOL. I'm from Phoenix, Dallas summer ain't got nothin' on here.

They'll look for better spots when it's the Colonial Open.
not sure what you're saying here. there is no 'Colonial Open' for one just 'The Colonial'. People that live in Ok,Tex,La,etc are used to it. If you haven't faded a hot/humid summer it can be taxing as hell. I played golf in Vegas when it was 115deg and it was nothing compared to a 95deg/70%humid day in Tulsa. Your sweat never evaporates, constantly wiping down with a towel. not pretty.

Matchroom right? They don't check climate reports? They might be trying to kill it. :ROFLMAO:
You make me think i'm high. ;) Have zero clue what you're trying to say. WTF does the 'Colonial Open'(?????????????) have to do with Matchroom and Dallas weather?? I've been told that JeremyJones(Texas guy) and a few others have been lobbying for this for some time. Look, pool players/fans aren't going to be outside anyway so it really doesn't matter where they play. Dallas is easy to get to, easy to get around, TONS of good restaurants/clubs, sports, etc. I may actually go as its only 4hrs from here.

Negative. There is nothing cheap in Frisco, anywhere.

It is the home of the Dallas Cowboys headquarters and one of the fastest growing towns in America.
This was my concern. I could fly from Memphis but it looks like Uber’ing everywhere. The City of Fresno looks like they purposefully didn’t want a single bit of public transit so it’s either driving there or renting a car.

I’m gonna wait until some better ideas of things to do are posted before pulling the trigger. I guess after being at the Mosconi Cup go from Las Vegas to Orlando….it was kind of a let down. I was able to convince my family to come out and go to the shows on the strip or a nice meal when there wasn’t pool action.

My brother and I tried to find places to play pool in Orlando and it was just leagues in the pool halls. For Florida, renting a car was a mess with dealing with the toll roads coming from out of town. We ended up getting some charges messed up with the rental car agencies still charging us for the expensive daily pass when we signed up separately. Texas seems to have the same approach with toll roads.

There looks to be no baseball games next door while there.

Feels like when I went to Derby….get snowed in for a week with expensive hotel food. Seems to be the opposite with flaming hot outside.

I know this comes across as a soap box, but with the International Open going to St Augustine, Mosconi Cup going to a random independent hotel on the outskirts of Orlando, and now the US Open going to a bedroom community in a suburb of Dallas…..by the time I finally have the time to go to the other major events they move off to really tough sells.

13 colonies. You know, redcoats, minutemen, tea parties...

Ok, you know the area and can probably deal with the heat. I just think boxoffice - fan stuff.

Was there for a football thing for my son. Frisco was fine. But yeah, you fly to DFW and rent a car basically. That’s what we did. I liked it, but yes it can cost money.
