Just returned from Vegas after attending the first half of the US Open tourney that Mark Griffin is running. It is a great event which is free to the fans. Scott Frost, Shannon the Cannon, and Cliff Joyner are playing the best one hole on this planet in one room side by side. No wonder people say Efren is from another planet. You got to be ET to spot these guys. 51 entries in the one hole event. Old timers like Johnny Ervolino, Ronnie Allen and the maestro Eddie Kelley make up the field. As well as a handful of a group of young hungry players like Marco Marquez, Ike Runnels, Richard Grenier, and Flaco Rodriguez. Go to onepocket.org to see more comments.
Thanks to Mark Griffin and his wonderful crew.

WOW Marco Marquez a short stop that is news to me. Last i heard he finished 2nd to efren at the D.C.C last year he beat alot of champions, and he will play anyone that goes to chicago. Not trying to start anything i just think he is not a shortstop.

Apologia

Yes you are right. I never intended to degrade Marquez in anyway. I think he is a terrific player. I should have made clear that the money was on the 3 (Daulton, Joyner, and Frost) who have extensive one pocket credentials and championship trophies. But there were other horses in the race that should not be discounted. My apologies to Mr Marquez.

The event turned out to be a great show. One pocket, Banks and the other pool including Tenball and THE RING GAME are what tournaments are about. A new century of pool is coming. The variety of events and the action was captivating. I was glad to have been there. I can only see that this BCA 9 Ball Nationals Event will be a great event every year. Hope they keep it going.

The whole operation was run smoothly. This group has it together. Mark Griffin is doing a much better job (a great job) then many would give him credit for. In fact no one is matching what he is doing in pool right now.

It may be as great as the Derby City Classic at some point in time, only with a lot more amateurs getting involved. People won't miss this event next time around guaranteed.

I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE OFFENDED BY THE TERM I MISTAKENLY USED 'SHORTSTOP'. I am sorry.

yobagua,

I'm disappointed I didn't get a chance to meet you at the one pocket event. I played in the nine and ten ball events and the nine ball team event. Those Diamond Pro tables were great!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only complaint I heard from some of the guys was, they were too tough.

I was sad to see so many forfeits again. Scott Frost appears to be the king of that trait. Even though the spectators were not charged to see the event, many travelled across the country to watch some of the best play. The spectators did not deserve anything less than the best from the players in return  .

Thanks Cardiac! I know what you mean. It would have been great to see a match up with Daulton and Frost. I would have been irked if I gave up some time to be faced with a FORFEIT.
Yeah it seems like the only ones who complained the most about Greg Sullivans tables are the ones who lost on them. I myself think they are great.
Good luck and maybe Ill see you at the Derby.
