us open qualifier in Des Moines Aug 13th

I am in the planning stages for having a qualifier in Des Moines for the us open. this is what I am thinking.
$100 entry( I think I can get 12-15 players)
race to 11- double elim on Gold Crowns
based on the number of entries, expense money would be given. 100% payback but no added money. Think this would fly?

the date is august 13, 2006. start time at 11 am. it is a sunday. just thought it would be fun, that is why I am organizing it.

y'know the story. If everybody that says they will show up,shows up, I already have 10. No limit to the players and if I have more than 12, cash prizes will be awarded also. Thanks Troy

I think the $100 entry might be a bit too high. It costs $500 to enter the event outright, and spending 20% of that on a qualifier seems high. I would say $50 tops. Take what I say with a grain of salt though, as I have never organized a tournament.
 
yeah but its 100% payback and if we have 12 players that is enough for the entry and the travel expenses( $700)
 
How often do you get a chance to get an shot at the open + travel money? Looks like a good time!

Its an entry fee plus $. Depending on the turnout. Hope they get enough players

i'll be there to watch this sunday. i might even stay for the 15 dollar tourny after. if you know of anyone in that area that is looking for a 314-2 predator or a viking cue let me know i'll bring them down. i will also hopefully get a sniper tip put on my orginal 314 while i'm done there and see some really great shooters.

I don't think Big Dogs keeps Snipers in stock (unless they have changed since I checked with them a month ago) so you'll need to bring your own to be installed.
 
Good Idea ...

or you could have 16 players at $75 entry ($1200). I was just thinking it would be nice if the top 2 could get entry (like the IPT qualifiers). If you had 16 players at $100 entry with entry + $600 for winner and entry for 2nd place, I think that would entice more to play.
 
snapshot you are right. If I have more than 12 players , after the winner gets the trip, the more the merrier. if I have 20 then the top 2 will be going. they might be sharing a room but oh well. I can only pay out what I get in the entry. no more no less. I have a verbal committment from 14 players. but only 3 locally. myself included.

sounds like a decent field. I am entering the one in orland park i would enter this one buts it 4 hours away and orland park is only 1 hour and 30 min.
