I don't know of any US Open record book.
How about best stroke? Earl had more power and Varner may have been smoother, but just as we used to say of the great Mizerak, Shane has the perfect blend of power and finesse.
I would bet he's made more players talk to themselves, givin more headaches to players, and made more players think "just what do I have to do?" Even after never ending rack checks the deeper he goes in the tourney the stronger hes playin. They huff and they puff but no ones blowin his house down

Yes, he was also undefeated in 2007, but, of course, he lost twice each year from 2008-2011. I imagine the 23 match wins in a row is a record, but I haven't confirmed that.

I would bet that your description better fits Efren, who has been giving opponents headaches for forty plus years, and I believe the thousands of players he has beaten might agree...
