US Open wikipedia

One point

it said it is a true 'double elimination' where the winner of the loser's bracket has to defeat the winner of the winner's bracket 2 times to win.

I thought the Open went to one final match like other tournaments???

So, which is it? If only 1 final match, then Wiki needs a correction.

I reviewed the info and it is correct. Please go down the article to the section called "Format." See below:

The tournament format is double elimination (a player is out of the tournament after losing two matches) until two players remain. Most professional pocket billiard double-elimination formats, though, are not true double elimination formats, where the player who reaches the finals from the loser's side has to defeat the winner's side player twice for the title. At the US Open Nine-ball Championship, matches are played in race to 11, with the winner breaking. However, the final match, as is customary with most professional nine-ball tournaments today, is one extended race. At the US Open Nine-ball Championship, the extended race in the finals is 13 games.

I was doing a search to see if there many newspaper articles on
the outcome of the US Open. None another then AZ and the other
Pool related sites. Maybe later in the day, but I did think this
wikipedia one was good.

There won't be any more articles written in this country about the US Open 9 Ball tournament. Nobody cares. I don't know if "foreign" newspapers will provide coverage. The point is that it's not newsworthy in this country.

Someone in South Dakota

needs to contact your 'South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame' and give them information about Shane Van Boening. Even if he isn't a candidate yet, I am sure he will be in short order.

Kansas has one, so I am assuming South Dakota does too.

I hope Shane has a big celebration party waiting for him when he gets home, he deserves it ... :D :D

The opening paragraph is kinda bad. Anyone reading that alone would think it a Male Female event.

One thing for sure, Barry is hoping for a repeat champion so the total for entry fees he is paying dont go up. He is paying $12K by my count and that has to be paid out in prize money too. That is pretty good of Barry. Im not sure if any other tournament does that especially as it is not televised. As i think about it Mohegan Sun does but on a lesser scale.. Im no huge Barry fan either but im getting used to him. Stiil just something wrong when a guy CARRIES (a la Paris H) a little doggie around. Sorry about the tangent!
