I went to the pool hall during my lunch break today and was just being bored and trying some different things.
I noticed a couple very good shooter this past weekend holding their cue while practice stroking and shooting the ball a with the same type of grip.
They would what appeared be hold the cue with a pretty lose grip with their 4 figure tips and their thumb while stroking. Then on the final stroke forward they would tighten up and grip the butt with there whole hand.
I just thought of shooting like this today and i was super accurate and very comfident. I was just throwing the balls up on the table and shooting patterns. I ran ball after ball for like four straight racks more confidently then i have in a long time. I only get out like 2-3 times aweek. so i sneak off at lunch now to get some practice. I used to play 7 days aweek so it takes more to get my consistency good.
But any way. I think i will try this way of gripping the cue for a while. If i can feel like i did today, everyday i play, then i will be ripping stuff up again in the tournys and gambling like i used too.
I didnt change my stroke or practice strokes. I dont really have a routine, i just shoot when i feel good. I just chaged the way i grip it. And it works Great.
My question is:
Does anyone else have good results with holding the cue like this while stroking?
