Hey all,

Just wondering what a fair price for a used bk3 would be. I know someone who might be looking to sell and am wondering what fair market value would be. Good condition, no nicks or dents

Thanks,

Chris

Used but in good condition, 90% - 95%, up to $325, imo

Lol. Surely you jest?

Put that into context, 90-95% is less than the retailer gets when you factor-in sales tax, company tax, and overheads, and that's for a new cue.

I'd say 66% max, but if people are dumb enough to pay more, we'll always have this complete farce of a market. Actually, we won't: the market will collapse entirely one day, and it will be the fault of those demanding 90-95% for used and unwanted goods.

Completely agree with this. I have no idea how people charge (and pay!) so much for second hand goods that can be easily bought new (with warranty, etc. thrown in).

It depends on the cue and the situation. If someone buys a new break cue and hits a dozen breaks with it, decides they dont like it for whatever reason.... that cue, for all intents and purposes is a new cue. Situations as described, the cue should get closer to the original selling price, not full retail, but closer to the original price. New cars on dealers lots get test driven. Does that mean when you buy one you are buying a used car? By strictly going off of semantics yes, I would say by most peoples opinions.... not really. They feel they bought a "new" car.

The problem is people with cues that are older or have been played a lot asking the higher prices. Ive never understood people thinking they should be able to buy something and use it, and it will somehow hold its value or go up in value. Yes, it does happen sometimes, and its nice if it happens, but there are no guarantees in this world.
If you want investment advice go talk to a money manager. But you should buy cues and cases etc to use and enjoy. Think of the price you pay as a usage fee spread out over the life of the item you bought. Because trust me..... its not an investment.

I think Ron was trolling again, he knew fine well that the 90-95% mentioned in the previous post was about the condition of the cue. $325 IS about 66% of the full retail price.

No, I think Ron just doesn't know the retail price and thought someone
seriously suggested paying 90% of new price for a used production cue.

I personally think even 66% is quite high, but not stupid high.

$3 i'll take it.
I would say that if it is in excellent condition you coukd get somewhere in the price range og 60-70%
keep in mind that pred cues are discounted 15% off of msrp to start by most retailers.
Pred cues do not tend to resell very well. I have a pred 3k7. I believe the fanciest cue they ever made. List for 1150. I bought it from pred for 1000. It is in mint condition. I cannot get 700 for it.
Good luck.

The BK3 is a performance item, very generic looks. Easy to approach for most.

The 3K7 requires a very specific buyer to like the design. Plus it costs a ton more and plays exactly the same as their sneaky line.

Most retail brands, again Predator, market super high end limited run cues, and the resell on them is trash.

School Unique comes to mind as well as the super fancy Jacoby Customs.

I think that "90%-95%" was referring to the cue's condition, not the percentage of retail price that he should pay.

Just the way that I read it. ;)

Is the warranty transferring? I ask because there is a known problem with the shafts developing issues near the joint. If no warranty, even $150 is too much. With warranty around $300. But I'd honestly spend that $300 towards something that fits you. Just because the BK3 is designed for breaking doesn't mean you'll break well with it. I break well with a BK3 but I feel more comfortable with my current break cue. But again if you can't get it with a warranty, don't get it.

I think the 90-95% from this comment was referring to the condition of the cue, not a dollar amount, but i might be wrong.

Yes, thank you. I'm afraid I wasn't very clear :
if the cue is in 90% - 95% condition I have routinely seen them go for up to $325.
I think the cheapest I have seen on in that condition (90% - 95%) go for was $200, but that between friends
