I PICKED A CUE WITH A 3/8 11 PIN AND IT CAME WITH AN EXTRA USED SOUTHWEST SHAFT
THE SHAFT IS TO BIG FOR ME AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE IT TAKEN DOWN AS THAT WILL DECREASE THE VALUE
I WANT TO LIST IT FOR SALE BUT NOT SURE WHAT SOUTHWEST SHAFTS ARE GOING FOR
THE SHAFT IS AN OLDER SHAFT BUT NOT SURE OF AGE
IT'S 13.2MM AND WEIGHS 3.8OZ-IT HAS A SLIGHT TAPER ROLL-TIP STAYS FLAT
WHAT ARE SOUTHWEST SHAFTS GOING FOR WITH THOSE SPECS

If the shaft is straight with light play at 12.75 or over, you could be in the $240 - $280 range and if a potential buyer had the matching ringwork that could add an add'l ~ $50. Also, ivory or old micarta ferrule could add ~ $30 to the right buyer.

Deduct accordingly for any defects compared to above.

All imo, of course.

I'd buy whatever replaced them.
Kidding. I have one 3/8 11 butt. I'll give you 50 bucks for the SW. :D
If you just want a test cue, Amazon has a 50 dollar stick w/case and 3/8 11 pin.

if SW cues go for north of 5K
a shaft has to be closer to $500
i am not a buyer/flipper of cues
so i could be way off
i think the above estimates are low

I would sell it and not mess with it! Otherwise be so light may not like the hit or play depending how shaft is tapered accordingly.

SW had been charging $375 for a new shaft and just heard that they recently went up to $500 so could use that as a guide.

Everyone, everyone knows that Southwest cues are sold for more than what Southwest charges
So I would assume if Southwest gets 500 for a shaft now
A sw shaft Should be worth at least 500 because where are you gonna find them?

Sureman…rip, had quite the selection of SW shafts in all sizes and I remember buying them from him over the years from $200-$350 depending on the size. Also, depending on the ringwork some could easily be in excess of $400. If they have not been altered, a SW shaft that has been taken down by someone other than them isn’t dead money but it’s on life support…

It appears SW has become much wiser regarding their pricing. No longer so lucrative for the flippers who were able to make BIG profits. Those big profits were what fueled the wait list, currently which I think is at 14 years. SW 's decision to take a bigger share of the value they've created. may be an acknowledgement of the reality that things can't go on forever.

They've been such an outstanding company all these years, I am happy for their success.

Incidentally will SW just make you shafts and what's the wait?
That’s very unlikely, I’ve known Laurie forever and been going to the shop since 87. They are not in the shaft biz. They will make an extra shaft when a cue is ordered, I’ve seen that in the past.

I’d guess a SW shaft would cost around $450 to $500 these days. Same price as a new set of balls. Thats always kinda been the number for a good shaft from any top cue maker.

Best Fatboy 😃
