Using a personal chalk now in Covid times to avoid communally-handled ones?

... Good advice. But I always forget not to touch my face - anybody got a cure for that? ...

I was wearing cheapie disposable plastic gloves when I went to the grocery store and they reminded me each time I touched my face not to do that. I sort of got trained.

It was decided long ago that it was desirable for the presence of chalk -- needing removal (on the then-predominant green felt) -- should announce itself, and thereby never be overlooked during table cleaning sessions. Green on green wouldn't be effective in this respect.

I see, that makes sense, thank you for the history lesson.

I cobbled up my own chalk holder by combining a pocket chalk holder with a retractable key holder.
Just fasten it to my belt, pull it out when I need to use it and let it go when I'm done.
Works great. Been using it in my league for a couple of years.

The only time I use my personal chalk is when the table chalk is drilled halfway to China, I hate blue chalk on my ferrule. That kinda begs the question, why do we use blue chalk on green cloth??? I have always wondered that and always forgot to ask why.

Lastly Im going to continue doing things after C-19 that I did before C-19 and hope that my immunity system functions how it was designed to. Im not sure a lot of anti bacterial stuff is good for you, we need bacteria to build immunity, dont we????

You what’s strange? I’ve been involved in the snooker world for years.
Green chalk shows up more on green snooker cloth than blue chalk does...
....been using blue chalk for rooms for a long time.
