Using a wood ferrule for Carbon Fiber shaft

Good morning/afternoon cuemakers. I was curious if it would be feasible to give a blank carbon fiber shaft a hollowed out wood tenon and wool ferrule, similar to an OB 1-2 ferrule. Thanks in advance for your replies everyone.

Just make one like OB and fit it to the shaft like the rest of the ferrules fit the c/f.

Thanks Mr Webb. I’m just a player that doesn’t like money and is always coming up with ideas lol. So what you are saying is that a wood tenon, and wood ferrule will work? I am not sure my friend has ever added a ferrule to a cf shaft, but we can give it a go. Thanks.

OB ferules were made of stacked little pancakes of maple. Very prone to splitting and chipping. I would use a single dowel with a tip pad to preserve some structural integrity. The stack of maple cakes was kind of cool looking but ever so fragile.

If the wood is glued properly with the CORRECT GLUE
It will be strong.

Jayman, I must have been one of the lucky ones then lol. I have had an OB shaft since their inception in 2005 ish, and have not had one wood ferrule break.

Customer wanted to use it as a break stick so I fixed it up (with a new tenon as well) .....

Gorilla glue in use anywhere near or on a ferrule, just makes me laugh.
I still have a couple of ob ferrules, you can pull them apart layer by layer by hand.
When I decided to do my own, I called Shane Sinot and shared with him.
