Using the case instead of a cue holder.

I use this J&J case:

Cost me $60. Notice how the "lid" to the tubes is cut - it's meant for the cues to placed there. The tubes are spring loaded, it has a compartment for a jump cue, a big pocket, and a little pocket.

It is also not leather.

I have seen some people at tournaments throw their case up over their shoulder with cues still assembled and carry it around to their next match.
Maybe not a good idea. Ask the guy I saw catch them on the doorway to the mini room at the Riv. He snapped them both in half.
He was bummed put a troopper. We had the booth by the door and he quickly purchased a cue so he could play his match.

here's a little rig i rigged up for myself, i'm sure you can figure out how i did it.
i used an old porper clamp i have laying around, and some straps and closures from an old backpack i had. simple and functional, and fits in any case.
feel free to make one for yourself.
i have a 2/4 case, but if yours is bigger, use bigger straps.

the last picture is an alternate way without a cue holder, i also use this one alot.

I guess this is what you're referring to. Looks like it works pretty good, but isn't it a little cumbersome to tote around?

I actually made something similar for about 1/2 the price. I purchased all the parts from Lowes. My clamp rachets though to tighten. I tried the spring clamp as pictured and didn't like it.
