USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

If the USPPA did endure difficult financial times and poorly planned their finances for the year then would a prize payout reduction be acceptable?

There is talk in other places about paying out, just less than what was advertised.

How much influence do unpaid players have at this point? Nothing that can produce results, changes or anything substantial. The USPPA has the advantage IMO.

You mean less than ZERO? Yes, good idea!!!!

The question still remains. What happened to the 100 players entry fee in this tournament. I heard that the staff got a free entry in to the tourney which is about 10 players or so. Even still, Annigoni took about $9,000 in cash for this tourney and where did that money go too? I want to see that we all get paid here. The players need answers.

Forget answers Jeff, go after the money from where ever yo can get it. What did Harry say?

He told me it was the Reno Peppermill's responsibility to insure that the funds were there for the tournament and all the players. They are the ones who received the benefit from all the players staying at their hotel, eating at their restaurants, and gambling in their casino. Makes sense to me. I lost some money on their blackjack tables and I know ALOT of other players who did the same thing...

Will he send a demand letter? If not, why not? I have someone in San Jose if he doesnt come through. I think a demand letter to both businesses is in order. The reason he says the Peppermill is their deep pockets. What did he say about the ramifications of having tournaments in Reno again? Make sure you cover all before proceeding. Have you guys formed a group and do you have a representative for all? You need to come together. Richs wife in LA wants her cash also. I can put her in touch with you while I am in Santa Monica. I ll be there until April.

You have Nick Callado listed twice. Once as paid in 17th-24th place and then as unpaid in 33rd-48th place.

Talked to the Peppermill Casino and they told me they want to have another Pool Tournament in 2011, but before they do, they want the players paid by Annigoni and his Two Cushion Club.
The lady I talked to said she really enjoyed doing business with Annigoni, she says when he pays the players off from 2010 and the Room Tabs for his staff, then they will get ready for 2011. Tony Annigoni, are you listening???????

Let me ask you something Jeff. Next time we play and you lose, you going to tell me a payment plan is being worked on for my score? Why would you even consider playing in another one of Tonys tournament s again? If anybody should put on a tournament in Reno at the Peppermill, it should be JR Hendy with the backing of California Billiards. Why do these big tournaments have to be held at casinos anyway? San Jose has several hotels with large conventions centers. Why not one of those? Answer to your question to Tony.........NO.

Glad you have seen the light Bill. There is no excuse for this.

Whenever you take any steps to risk money for a return (stock market, Real Estate, Pool Tournies etc), you must make 100% sure you can survive (honorably) under the WORST CASE SCENARIO.

When have I ever not wanted the players to get paid? You can never make 100% sure of any risk. The point is to minimize risk. The only 100% way to survive risk is not to take any. And that is a bigger risk to me than anything.

With only 8 months left before the next scheduled Peppermill Reno event, majority of the winning proceeds still unpaid, last year's Room Tabs for staff unpaid and general lack of communication and respect for the winners and players, I can not imagine this event ever happening under the same management. And, if it did happen with the same promoter and I were the Peppermill, I would want to protect myself by insisting on $$$$ up front for payouts, rooms tabs with a deposit for unexpected contingencies.

I'm happy to hear the Peppermill is still open to having tournaments. To me it seems obvious the best solution is to have someone else run the show. My vote is for Mark Griffin!

real nice.

What about vouchers redeemable at USPPA events and tournaments? If the guy is short on cash he may go for a desperate bargain and suggest giving everyone free USPPA equipment, free USPPA memberships and free USPPA coupons.

Would that help ease some of the pain?

This is why I am giving Annigoni time to pay off. I have sent a demand letter to them last month with no response, showed a copy to the news with a news story on CBS Channel 13, all with no response from Annigoni.
So before I open up a class action lawsuit against Annigoni and the Two Cushion Club, I want to see if they will come forward and pay us all off. Thanks Bob, for your posts on who the other winners who cashed were.

Are you planning on playing at the Terry Stonier Memorial this weekend at the Jointed Cue in Sacto? Tony played in it last year - where he first passed out his beautiful fliers for the Reno Peppermill event. If so, maybe he'll be there and you can ask him directly?

Yes I will be there, and we will see what happens. I would like to see what Annigoni has to say, but quite frankly at this point, I think I might have to stand in line due to other players that are going to confront him and ask where the money is....
