USPS (Postal Service) worked out, and very fast for me

Yes,I am sure that there are a lot of good folks in our government agencies.People that are dedicated to their work and helpful.I don't mean to "broad brush" all gov employees. It is just a frustrating situation sometimes.

I am confused.

He bought the cue, and you insured it. There was damage (however it got there).

So the insurance went to the buyer?

How were you scammed? You got paid.

Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to follow the logic.

MY STORY

A friend of mine bought a Tad cue used. It was rough as two nights in jail. He sent it to Tad for a refinish. I bought it, while it was being refinished.

After some period of time, Tad got paid and sent the cue back. Only problem we never got the cue. Tad had it insured, and he got the check and told us to pick out one from J&J and have them send a replacement. So it ended fine.

Ken,
When someone buys a cue from me,and they break it on purpose to get a free shaft,I don't know what else to call it.Maybe I was just an unwitting pawn in an insurance scam.I don't like being "played" as a part of an insurance scam, and I spent a lot of time trying to recover the money for the buyer. He paid me as a gift and I felt like I should try to help him get his money back.If I didn't get him his money back,he would have lost $2300.00. He contacted Marcus (Fast_N_Loose) to "lean" on me and he was going to start a thread about what a bad seller I am.He wanted me to re-pay him out of my pocket.I just didn't need/want the aggravation.
If I told you who did it,you would say,"Oh yeah,I heard about him before" You're right,I wasn't scammed out of any money,I was just used in an insurance scam against the Postal Service.

Since it's tax time here's my story, having nothing to do with pool. So six years ago I retired in Virginia from New Jersey. I had one last year to file state taxes in Jersey. I send off my tax forms to the feds, NJ and Virginia. All three certified mail with that little return postcard.

It took three days to go from VA. to Trenton, NJ, stamped at the tax office and then another 35 days to go the 250 miles back to Virginia.

The freakin' Pony Express only took ten days to go from St. Louis to San Francisco 150 years ago.

As a photographer I got sick of Post Office intentionally folding heavy cardboard boxes in half to stuff the in a mail box by the street instead of leaving them at the door. Now I sandwich platinum prints between sheets of Baltic birch plywood.

And yeah, that broken cue might have been a scam, but a thin twig bends in a storm while the heavy oak snaps. I could really see a P.O. moron climbing on some boxes until he hears that snap.

Do you realize how much force it would take to break that butt while in a tube in bubble wrap and then inside of a box. Chuck Norris would have trouble doing that.

I totally agree.
It may have been taken out of the box, then broken and then put back in the box.The shaft didn't even get a scratch on it.That's why I think it was "set up" to get free money from the post office.
