I'm not blaming Dejoy for everything that has transpired at the post office, but I do hold him responsible for damaging the reputation of the post office, and in so doing lowering morale among many Post Office employees. I think we all know what took place under his watch in the lead up to the 2020 national elections and it wasn't pretty. Most of us see that for exactly what it was, an attempt to undermine the election process. In other words he politicized the post office to favor one candidate over the other. I'm not sure how you rationalize that as being okay, but I don't, then or now!
I believe the term they invented was "alternative facts". They literally can't accept reality. But he's fine with cheating like hell, as long as it's his side.

We can always point out what we don't like (very easily). Usually the truth is somewhere in-between. The internet, Amazon, social media, and a growing population have added to a worsening product.

All factors in addition to politics. My opinion

I guess I spoke too soon praising the PO. I am missing a package now. No record of tracking and it has been 6 days. It is as if it was never mailed.

I just checked the tracking this morning and it is out for delivery today. First time there had been any updates. Customers begin to think you are lying or making excuses. If they don't regularly deal with the post office they can't believe they just ignore doing their job. Well at least it is finally being delivered but it can be stressful. People need what they are buying and expect to have it delivered in a reasonable time. No matter what the reason, they still tend to blame you. It can reflect badly on you.

What a bunch of whiny pusses. Try ordering some cigars from Europe or AU. Sometimes 2-3 weeks or 2-3 months for delivery. May sit for weeks without moving on a scan. Try ordering some wood from SE Asia. My buddy just recently received a package that was shipped last OCTOBER.
The whole world has gone to shit in the last 2 years if you hadn't noticed. Brace yourself...it's gonna get worse before it gets better...if ever.

The only way you can get things shipped in a "timely" manner is reach deep into your wallet for the best any carrier has. Even then paying for Express isn't a guarantee it'll make it, however, very easy to get reimbursed for the cost if it doesn't make it when they say it will. I do believe the carriers try a "little" harder on express packages.
The days of no matter rain, sleet, or snow the mail must flow are over. Fewer people wanna a job these days and most that do just want the pay check and could care less about anything but themselves.

I do have to say tho, I have one of the best mail carriers in the industry. I've built that relationship with him long before the world fell in the toilet. I have his cell number, he has mine. No we did not know each other before he started his route but I wouldn't hesitate to have him and his family over for cold root beer. That's just how we roll.

I don't get the mentality of kids or people in general these days. When I was 13-14 years old I had 3 different paper routes I ran at the same time back in the day when the paper boy delivered the paper in between the screen door and the front door. Then spent all day Sat. riding my bike around and banging on doors to collect $ for the weekly service I provided. Try asking some punk to do that today.
Old people driving around throwing papers out the window from a moving car is the best you'll find these days.

The whole world is short staffed....be nice to the ones that have showed up and are at least trying.
Do your job, and don't give me a bunch of bullshit excuses....and I'll be nice to you!

During the period between 2009 and 2019 I lost exactly one package where it turned out the address was one number off (as in 2904 as opposed to 2906). Between 2019 and 2021 I have lost (and I mean LOST!) four packages entirely gone, nowhere to be found in the mail system, even with tracking numbers. One was mailed from my home and the rest were dropped off at the post office. Two were books sent via Media mail, one was a book shipped via Regular mail and one was a package of posters shipped by Priority Mail. The book shipped from my home and one that was dropped at the post office never showed up as being received in the system. The other two were "delayed" en route and never continued to their destination.
Jay, have you shipped much with them recently? I agree that things got way worse at the USPS during the COVID shutdowns, with the Christmas 2020 shipping season being a complete disaster. But since then things seem to have smoothed out very well. I ship about 100 packages a month through my eBay sales with about 90-95% of them going via USPS first class and Priority mail. During the 2020 Christmas season many, many of my USPS (and UPS) shipments arrived late. Since last February, though, I've only had a handful of packages arrive late and one lost out of about 1400 shipped. As a side note, I almost always drop them off at my local PO, using the bin in the lobby for the small stuff and leaving the larger items at the end of the customer service counter where the clerks process them as they have time.

Unfortunately my FedEx driver delivers packages like they are newspapers. Any where on the driveway or front lawn is fine to him.

Our usps guy is great a few times I have met him halfway coming up my driveway carrying a FedEx package that was left by the road side. Once it was raining pretty good and the package was soaked, guess the FedEx guy didn't want to ruin his hair.
haha. You got that right. I got large boxes of chalk delivered at a time. Over 600 boxes packed in one large heavy box. I have a 40 foot covered front porch and they leave the package on the sidewalk in front of the stairs (there are only 2 steps) Brilliant huh?

I've been shipping world wide for the last 8 years without a problem. Yeah, it's not the fastest, but I've never lost one package, most of them are worth a few grand of product. I'm shipping several times a week with large orders across the USA, Europe, Asia, even Australia.

They have been slower due to the pandemic, but it gets there. Sometimes it's the fault of the country it's going to, as they have certain protocols that must be followed. In the US, it has been slow, most times priority takes 3- 5 days, but it still gets there. I'm sure they are short staffed due pandemic, retirements, etc.

I have no reason to switch, they have been good to me. And it's convenient being close to a Post Office. The cost is much lower and since my international clients pay postage, it really helps them out. Plus, the USPS boxes happen to be the perfect size for my product and fits nicely in all sizes. Hope they keep it up.

I ship in PVC pipes that are large, nearly indestructible and hard to lose.
Time for a quick laugh. Went to a UPS Store with a PVC...guys says its $5.00 extra as it needs special handling as the tube rolls of the conveyor. I walked out but should have asked if he sells his mother piss and says it's perfume.

I have shipped a few cues thru USPS, Fed ex and UPS. Out of the three Fed EX is the way to go imo but it's a lot more expensive than the post office.

The PVC tube should go inside one of their triangle boxes. So by walking out what did you accomplish?
USPS will give these boxes for free. I log into my account, fill in proper information and they send me as many as I want. Some local Post Offices have them in stock at times.

Was not up for his line of bullshit. As for walking out I shipped UPS at Staples. Was cheaper anyway. Yes to placing the tube in a triangle box the next time.
It's best to not be confrontational. From my experience UPS workers are under pressure. They literally run when they are out delivering. I have no doubt they are tracked with GPS and better not linger too long anywhere. They all seem job scared. Not a job I would want. I would bet privately they all would tell you they hate their job.

It was a privately owned UPS store. I respect everyone that goes to work …. As for any business I like to deal with professional business people not hucksters.

I will try to defend the US Postal Service, when you think of all the mail, and packages they deal with daily. They are not perfect, but surly not much worse the UPS, or FedX.

I honestly do not understand how there package carriers get so many deliveries right, when you consider volume on their loads.
