Valley 8ft?

How good can you get a 8ft valley to play? What's the best thing to do to them such as rails or cloth? What's the biggest downfall to these tables as far as playability goes?

the rails are not bolted through the slate. cushion blocks are side mounted through the top rail. Worsted Cloth and Penguin cushion upgrade will make it play a bit better

Has to be a pre-2001 Valley(round corner cabinet) to use Penguins afaik.

Yeah there's a local guy who has a warehouse full of 8' tables I'm told at $250 piece. They are cheap I think cause no one wants to move them LoL

The biggest downfall as you put it, is not actually the table, but rather the mechanics that work on them, as most have no idea what they're doing other than slapping some new cloth on and calling it done.

I just recovered a Valley 7ft, installed new Penguin standard rails, and when finished, banked the cue ball 9 rails around the table, and 5 times back and forth the length of the table. To get those results requires a little more expertise than just installing new cloth.
