Apparently this is the first time they're doing the August event. Do a lot of people and vendors expect to be attending? Apparently they're reducing the size of the amateur and pro tourneys, but TAP league will also be there. Are people still planning on trying to get a spot?

Should ahve all the info you are looking for there. it is going to be smaller, only on the lower level, but there is room for about 40 vendors I think I read.

I think I may go up just for a day since it isnt to far from me. I just went to the last one for 4 days and plan to make that one the big event each year.

Most people I talked to don't think they are going to make it.

Hm.....

well as an avid fan of the expo and a regular in the pit, I can say that many people expressed an interest in going... many of my good guy friends who play relatively good had said they would definitely come to play the 8-ball, specially since it was 200$ and not 75$, others have said that they believe that the 200$ entry will scare many fish away...

But if you are travelling and don't want to travel JUST for this expo, I hear there is another Expo in Baltimore Aug 10-12, which is not that far from philly....

anyhow, summer is always tough for pool because its hard to be jammed up in a pool room when it is so nice outside, however if your anything like me, it doesn't matter what its doing outside, i'll still play pool, so i will be there for august.

BCA show not open to the public

The "Back to Billiards" Show being put on by the BCA, in Baltimore, in August, is a wholesale show, and not open to the public. You must be in the billiard business, and a BCA business member to get in. Hopkins expos are open to anyone.

As Jimbo said, most of the people and vendors I spoke to, will not be at the summer expo. It is a bad time of the year for many, being right in the middle of prime vacation time.

I know I couldn't drag my wife to go to an expo in August.

I've heard some conflicting reports about this expo in Baltimore. It is definitely being held by the BCA, however, I have read that it is for the industry only and not open to the public. Another report I heard was that there will be one day for the public. I'm waiting for more detailed information on this one.
This one is within a half hour drive for me, so I don't have to plan too far ahead. :D

The Saturday that the show falls on it will be open to the public with things for the public to participate in including some type of world record attempt or something.

See here: http://www.bca-pool.com/industry/expo2/06btb_preview.htm

read it again...

The site says it all...on that Saturday, there will be a separate area, with some 'special events' open to the public...but the show floor itself (where you can buy and order merchandise) is NOT open to the public.

If Jimbo's not going neither am I. :D

Actually, I had made up my mind the minute I heard of it not to go. You'd think he'd be doing one on the west coast or something instead of another one in PA.

SHIT Single elimination again. Have fun all.

But it is Races to 8, best 2 out of 3 sets. :p Getting lucky on the draw sure does help in a single-elimination event. $10,000 is attractive, as is the bar box.

It's a short drive for me. :D

BTW, I give a thumbs-up to the Homestead Suites, a quarter-mile up the road. Full kitchens, CLEAN, and reasonably priced when booked ahead of time. Though I've stayed at the Scanticon and Raddison and have enjoyed the convenience of everything under one roof, it's kind of nice to have these amenities for a 4-day weekend. Best value for the buck, too, IMHO. ;)

I started to say that it's just like double elimination since it's 2 out of 3 sets, but of course realized how stupid that is if you're playing Johnny or Jose, for example. :o

Dare I give this a shot? Will this be my break-out tournament??? Here's what will happen: I will draw Keith in the first round. It always happens that way when two locals or two relatives go to an out of town event, they always draw each other.
