Valley Forge Type Bar Box Action...

I am just curious about any dominating type perfomances from players in a bar box setting similar to the pit at Valley Forge. For example, number of consecutive racks that a player has been victorious or number of racks that a player has actually broke and run in a winner stays on type format. After league, it is common for many players in our area to player a $5 per man winner stays on 9 ball game. It is not common for a player to control the table for 6 or 7 games in a row. All of the players play good bar box pool, but nothing like the players in the pit at Valley Forge.

One thing that sticks in my mind is losing to a player named Adam Stanton a in the 2002 open division at Valley Forge. We were in the top 64, so we both were guaranteed money. Obviously, a person must play decent to get to that point. After losing 4-5, 5-3 and 4-5 to Adam, I wished him luck and took my $450 home. I was talking to another player at the event who had asked about my elimination from the event. He proceeded to tell me not to worry about losing to a player of that caliber. I was a little perplexed because, although Adam plays very well, I never dreamed that he played at the level this guy was telling me about....he proceeded to tell me that Adam had run 16 racks in a row on a bar box up there in a $5-$10 ring game with like 8 players. And, according to this guy, they were paying double for runs. That is a lot of cash.

Does anyone have any interesting stories regarding the pit at Valley Forge or anywhere else for that matter?

It isn't everyday that a group of however many world class players get together to play in a winner stays on type format on a bar box.

the pit.....

ahhhh. look what you've done. Now you got me all excited for the expo. I got 20 on the breaker all day long..lol.
I love the pit down there. Anyway I have nothing else to contribute to your post:D :D

I understand your love for that setting. That is part of the reason for my post...I wanna hear more.
:D

The best i saw in the Pit at Valley Forge was Ronnie Wiseman he must have won for about 2 hours straight 40 or 50 games...He was on fire

Bar table break and runs

34 straight break and runs. Two consecutive sets race to 17.

That is incredible. You would think that bad luck would eventually catch up to a player of any caliber....like not making a ball on the break or the cueball getting kicked into a pocket on the break....something to stop the streak.
