Valley table recovery $ question

Hello,
I attended Gleans class in Alsip and learned a lot. Since then I helped a friend recover two Dynamo tables he has at his house for practice. Last night I replaced bed cloth (no rails yet) on the worst table at my home league bar. I was very happy with the results, I just need to know what a fair price to charge. PM me if this should be kept private

Thanks, Matt Klein

That varies from market to market. Small towns and rural areas vs large metro areas... One way to determine what you should charge is set a reasonable hourly rate and determine the average time required and charge a pre-table price based on that. Be sure to add a little for materials and supplies.

bar table

one thing u will learn in working on pool tables is that u should give an dollar estimate before u start....the best way to give an estimate is experience in working on tables....ya should pay for what ya get....
when i work on my close friends tables i give them a stupid discount, the reason is that the friend ur helping out is one of your best ways for free advertisement...your friend is gonna tell everyone about the great work u did on his table....u know how pool players talk'....
good luck, keep up ur practice

I just keep it simple on the coin-ops. I charge a flat $100 plus cloth for 6,7 or 8' and $150 + cloth for 9' coin-ops. Worked for me for years and I've literally recovered 1000's of them although not as many now days. More 3pc slate home tables in recent years.

Me talking to Duane in a pic you took...

I didnt ask to recover these tables. The league players are pissed at how much they suck. Several league players DEMANDED the bar owner have me work on his tables. The bar owner WANTS to have the BEST tables in town. I'm just asking whats fair. I did a good job and think I should be payed for it. I bought a Starrett level. I already own thousands of dollars worth of hand tools. I just wanted to know what a fair price is.
By the way, the price I had in mind sounds accurate

Sincere thanks to everyone for their responses

i remember

the kid in the white shirt....' i recall only seeing him on one day walking around....

Im confused. Help me out.

What hurdle do I need to clear before I am granted permission by the Esteemed Brotherhood of Billiard Mechanics to recover a bar table?

I own American made quality tools.
I attended a class held by knowledgeable journeymen of the craft.
I practiced before I charged for my services.
And I have poured over all the information I could find on this forum.

Not sure where this is going. Attending the Allsip seminar was an excellent opportunity to learn and
get hands-on training altho one major difference being standard vs. barbox rails. If you can properly cloth
a GC bed you can pretty much do any table using the same principles. With some practice barbox rails are simple to master.

I'm guessing you have a dilemna on your pricing. You may be best served staying in learning mode until you feel
you've done some tables with excellent results thereby increasing your skill set. At that time you can set your
fee based on the going rate in your area.

I have had the worst week in 6 years due to massive issues with a female in my life. I reread what I wrote and want to apologize for being a huge A-Hole. Sorry. I will try to explain later.
