Valley table

Hello,

Does anyone know if the key to the side where you open up the table to remove balls, is the same key to the end where there is a lock just above the cue ball return?

All of the balls are stuck in the table and I have a key for the side (even though the side is off) and it appears to fit but will not turn that much. The wife can reach in and get all the balls out but then as soon as one is made it gets stuck.

What would you think would be the culprit, a piece of chalk? Is there a way to open it up and check and see or fix the problem.

Thanks

If the locks are the factory locks, then yes...the side door key is suppose to fit the end service door. Once taking the door off, there is another door held on with 2 wing nuts, remove that door as well. Look inside, you'll find some chalk built up right in the middle of the ball track just before the balls make the turn into the cue ball separator. That's because Valley did not remove that part of the center track...leaving a shelf for the chalk to set on...to pile up and block balls!

Thank you...

Any advice on how to get the lock turning if it doesn't want to go?

I can't fit a pry bar in there lol But believe me it was a thought..

Our Legion Post has a similar issue with the key. We have to pull it out slightly from the locks - then it works ok.

Since the Legion owns the table, I have even thought of taking the tumblers out of the lock mechanisms. Usually makes it work better and even though you could get into it with a screwdriver, no one is usually the wiser.

Yes, either take a flat tip screw driver and insert it into the lock and turn it with a cresent wrench, or drill out the lock with a 1/4" drill bit.

Forgot to mention the key says

Fort Collins 54G and is a tanish color.
54G is the model of the key, C512 is the number of the key that fits most all Valley side doors. Is there a bar with Valley pool tables somewhere near you that you could ask the owner to borrow his Valley keys to open your clean out door?

Guess my 18v Black and Decker cordless isn't going to get through that lock LOL.

Maybe drilling a ton of holes in the wood around the lock will eventually make the wood fall apart.

Oh man this is fun....:)

Hey Einstien...LOL:D :D you're suppose to use a 1/4" drill bit to dtill through the middle of the lock, which will remove the lock cam on the back side of the lock so you can take the door off, not drill out the lock with a 3/4" drill bit...and remove the whole lock...LOL:eek:
