The Joss N-17 is from 1993 and I would estimate it's auction value at $500 - $600 based on the description.

The Schon 13 shaft is from 1993, when Evan Clark took over the company. Before that Schon didn't mark the shafts at all, then there was a year or two where they marked it on the collar in gold block letters like yours (usually just "Schon" but I've seen it with the 13 too) before going to the current style, imprinted in the wood with a verticle logo.

Hi Chris..hi to all,

thanks for the Info..but..
The Movie TCOM was released in 1986 and the Cue they used was an N-7..right?was it called N-7 back then when the movie was released or did it became an "N-7" later?

Joss came out with the 94-Series cues back in 94..i guess.

any idea for how long the N-Series was produced??
from??-till93

To bad i cant find any online-catalog or infos ON OLDER Joss-Cues.

btw...whats the difference in Value between my cue and this model 107 on Luckys Page?? http://www.ilovecues.com/5th_ave/joss/cues/02.html
this one is on sale for over $4000 ..
except that my cue has horizontal stich-ring in the butt instead his vertikal stitch-ring.and my cue has an J inlayd in the white inlays of the butt

The J series came out in the mid 1980's and the cue used in Color of Money is the J-18. later on they renamed that design the N-7, sometime in the early 1990's.

Your N-17 came out in the 1993 catalog - please refer to the Billiards Encyclopedia, page 369.

The Joss cues that are worth money to collectors are almost all early spliced cues made by Bill Stroud, or the one of a kind customs made by Dan Janes.
There were also some commemoratives, such as Joe Balsis and Nick Varner, that have fetched over $1000.

There is very little collectible interest in the production line Joss cues except for maybe the J-18. The Blue Book shows middling values and these are pretty accurate, maybe even a little inflated.

Lucky's cue looks like a J-17. the Blue Book rates it at $1,100 in 98% condition. Maybe Lucky is feeling... lucky?

Luckys Cues

Luckys' Cues Are Not Just Production Cues. He Had Dan Janes Do Those Cues In The Cutom Shop. One At A Time, By Hand With Ivory, Built Like A 70's Joss Cue. They Just Look Like The Production Cues. Lucky Had A Big Article About Joss Doing That When These Cues First Came In.

fast 'n Loose hit it.

Here is the Lucky Page text:

80年代のビリヤードブームをリアルタイムで体験した人の多くが口を揃えて言う。
『Joss Cue

Here is a (very loose) translation:

Many persons who experienced the billiard boom of the eighties .
Joss Cues were the top of the line. The TOP players of that that time used
Joss, that it imposed (his) own dream to the designs.

As for this reissue edition, conveying the
intense yearning of a billiard fan of Japan of the eighties to Dan whose
hand personally ...as for without having meaning he was consent not to be the custom of DanJanes. As for the TOPshining in the champion as for
capability it probably influences also the power, where of course this
cue is sufficient.

Of course, young prayer it increases the same
generation as me with self-confidence. We would like to have knowing
that Joss of custom is different, the production series the
conspirators and two tastes, by all means.

This custom Joss, You do not make Re regret Issue.

Adi,

the joss cues here in germany were horribly overpriced in these years (around 1990-95): Well you might remember that every one who had a Joss was some kind of God, no matter how he played.

the N17 you have was probably sold for someting around DM 2800-4000 depending on the dealer.
I think you might get, as said above, something around $ 500-750 depending on the day. In the german ebay you will probably get the same or slightly less in Euros depending on your description.

I sold my perfectly restored N6 for 550 Euros ($660) which was in my opinion quite cheap, concerning that it was a 60 inch cue (custom made ??), incl. a shorter (29") second shaft with the original joint Logo

The last N6 on german ebay went for around 300 if I remember correctly

Hi to all,
@matthias..

the N-17 Retailed for aprox.$1200 in the US..back then the ex.rate was 1,70DM..+ 15%MWST+5%Customs+Shipping.thats around 2500.-) DM till the Cue was in Germany...not counting the Dealers Profit.
Give him 20%..that will get me to an Total of 3000.-DM.....btw...there is still only 1 official Joss Distributor in Germany...that what may made it a little more expensive and exclusive

I remember the McDermott D-26..same time frame...retailed for 2000.- Dm in Germany...that equals about $1200 back then.
MSRP was 550 or 590$.....guess we all Know that Shop in K-Town

Now these Days we all have Internet and can order our Cues direct in the US...hope we all get what we pay for and dont have to deal around with Warranty and returns
