Value of a joss west cue ...

A fella at the bar last night showed me a cue he was playing with.
It had been found in a pawn shop many years ago lacking a butt cap, wrap, and ferrule. He sent it to Joss east for repair and has been playing with the cue for a few years.
He said the fella at Joss East told him it was an old Joss West cue.
He asked me about refinishing it and I told him to send it to Joss West to retain its value.

This one is a four point veneered plain wrapped cue and has a small round inlay that looks like it has been filled in on two of the points ... right up near the point.
Stainless steel joint with no other markings as to its maker.


The amazing thing was he let others play and break with that cue.
He was aware that it might be a very valuable cue as a collector item and I advised him to put it away ... Preferable in my case ...

Anyhow he said he would send me some detailed photos of it today and I was hoping someone here could identify it and its approximate value.
I will post them here as soon as I get them.

He is willing to sell it for the right price.

from what i have seen the JW's have dropped off invalue over the last 3-4 years.the 4 pointers used to bring close to $2000,now i see them in the low teens.with 2 inlays and in need of a finish i would guess $1500-$1600.

Good luck on getting Joss West to respond to you, I didn't have any when I looked into getting a JW cue refinished. I HIGHLY recommend Scott at Proficient Billiards, he did an OUTSTANDING job on the JW cue I sent him.
