I was offered a Dale Perry cue tonight for $550. I have never owned a custom. It had a really large pin, cocabolo wood, and birdseye points I think. It also had some green stone in the points. He said he had the certificate of what it was. Had his signature on the side. I have no clue if this is a good deal or not. Any suggestions

You can buy a new Dale Perry cue off Ebay for $150 to $200 all day. Just go to ebay and take a look.

What he said. There is nothing wrong with DP cues. For the money they are
great players. Check EBay. At this time you can buy 3 brand new Dale Perry cues for that price. His auctions run 24/7. If you happen to lose out on one, wait a few hours until the next auction expires.

I have bought 2 Dale Perry cues in the last 2 months on eBay. You can't beat them for the price. I did replace the shaft with an OB1 and I love it.

He said this one was before the ebay thing. He showed me a certificate of authenticity signed by Dale Perry. He told me he gave almost a grand, it is a great looking cue. Does this mean anything

Nope. Many people will relay to you this same info......but once Dale changed his business model, it basically killed resale value on the secondary market for "pre-ebay" DP cues. We sold his cues back then and he made a real nice cue for $600-$1200. Unfortunately, you can get basically the same thing now brand new for a few hundred.

Just curious, why are they so cheap now? I''m not sure what the whole ebay thing is about

Great question....he probably just decided to make big changes in his business plan to stress direct sales and sales volume over all else.

If you use the Search feature and type in Dale Perry, you will get the entire story and understand the picture from his pre EBay cues to his current EBay business model.

I believe this guy and it sucks that he gave so much for this cue and its not worth that anymore. It really does look like a $1000 cue

I recently bought a DP cue right here from a fellow AZ'er to use as my league player, I don't like taking my main playing cue to league. Great cue for the price but yeah, there is no reason to spend that kind of money when you can buy a brand new one for less than half that much.

Did he produce certificates of authenticity before ebay?? My dad purchased one from him at the 93 Cue Expo in Houston. It didnt come with one. About a year later one of the shafts warped, he sent it back and had it replaced no problem. It was a lower end cue, no points, but my dad still says he wished he had bought one the next level up. Guess it's a good thing he didnt.

That's ok, he can go to the next 4 levels up now and probably cheaper than what he paid for the plain jane!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought 3 DP cues from ebay. Average cost was about $140. Each came with a signed certificate of authenticity, signature on the cue accompanying the 1 of 1 notation, and they all played pretty well. There were very minor cosmetic flaws (tiny gap at the wrap ends, unpolished butt face), but they were well worth the money.

I just bought one from Dale off of ebay and the thing I like best is I called and talked to him on the phone and got the answers to all those questions before I bought. I found him quite personable and more than willing to tell anything you want to know.
